  1. WAR is an all-encompassing stat, though. I'm not saying it should be the only metric we should use, but I think there should be a lot of emphasis on it. If there aren't objective ways to evaluate the players, it will devolve into a pissing contest.
  2. We can use WAR to evaluate the players at the end of the season. That's a pretty objective method to determine who has the best team.
  3. LOL Yes, my bad.
  4. $100,000?
  5. So with SoxFF on board, do we have 12 or 13 people now?
  6. I only caught part of the game, but yeah they had their way out there. They were embarrassed the other night against the Clippers at home, though. Should've re-signed Brad Miller. Omer Asik is terrible, and Kurt Thomas is ancient.
  7. I've also never been a fan of college basketball. March Madness has its moments, but if people didn't fill out brackets and gamble, it would just be meh. The only thing I like about college basketball is the effort. Some NBA teams refuse to play defense, and there is a serious lack of intensity on that end of the floor. You generally don't see that in NCAA.
  8. Geno Auriemma needs to get off his soapbox. I don't care about UConn's streak because women's basketball is boring and the competition is underwhelming, to say the least. I could find hundreds of high school boys teams that would mop the floor with UConn's team.
  9. Oh please. Injuries happen to every team.
  10. If we have a salary cap, which I've made my peace with, let's not have it be AAV. Just stick with what they're getting paid in 2011, since 2011 is the only year that will be pertinent to this thing.
  11. My team will be very strong. You can take that to the bank. Let's get this going, though. We currently have 10 teams, right? Are we looking for 2 more?
  12. I'm no fan of Dice K, but if they did that they wouldn't have a 5th starter. And they need a 5th starter more than they need a crowded outfield.
  13. RHP: Crawford Pedroia Gonzalez Youk Ortiz Drew Lowrie Salty Ellsbury LHP: Pedroia Crawford Youk Gonzalez Lowrie Cameron Drew Varitek Ellsbury
  14. Wow, no kidding. The Magic really shook things up. Just watched a Bulls-Knicks game from 1994. Man, those games were physical. Pippen played the entire game, including overtime.
  15. If this is true, the NL Central is wide open. Greinke, Gallardo, and Marcum would be pretty formidable.
  16. 1971 Orioles are up there. Four 20-game winners. Cuellar, Dobson, and Palmer each pitched over 280 innings. McNally pitched over 220. 70 complete games between them, 12 shutouts. Horses.
  17. Oh noes, Greed isn't his God!! He's made close to $70 million in his career. He could play another 2-5 years after this season. He won't have trouble finding another job as a scout/analyst/broadcaster/pitching coach when he retires. He's set for life.
  18. Do we know roughly when the draft will begin?
  19. I should have also said he can earn up to $6 million with incentives. But yeah, pretty cheap, especially when you consider how much some relievers are getting paid right now.
  20. Twins signed Tsuyoshi Nishioka for 3 years, $15 million. Nationals re-signed Chien-Ming Wang for 1 year, $1 million.
  21. Nah, f*** that. Their numbers are grossly inflated. People like McGwire took PEDs their entire career. Who knows what he would have done without them? Brady Anderson and Luis Gonzalez were run-of-the-mill players before they juiced. Next thing you know, they're superstars. I'm not going to give them recognition. They didn't bring baseball back to me; I never left the game. And its popularity would have inevitably resurfaced over time.
  22. Really? Really?
  23. Hell no to the juicers. That includes guys I suspect: Walker, Brown, Bagwell, Boone
  24. s***. Noah out for 8-10 weeks. Rose is banged up right now as well. Bulls are in trouble.
