  1. Jeter would never play for the Sox, and the Yankees would never let that happen.
  2. That's not his fault, and it doesn't diminish what he did at all.
  3. I would trade Ellsbury or Kalish for Upton, but not both of them in a package because we'll need one of them moving forward. I would also include Kelly. But I would be extremely reluctant to include Bard. If the Sox could swing a deal with Ellsbury/Kalish, Kelly, and another prospect like Doubront or Lars I would do it in a heartbeat.
  4. Great to see that the voters no longer look at a pitcher's win-loss record as the primary factor for determining who wins the Cy Young. Felix was the best AL pitcher this by a long shot.
  5. Bud Black was the right choice for the NL. I'm glad he edged out Dusty Baker. The Padres won 90 games. A lot of people would have scoffed if you would have predicted they would have finished .500 before the season started. I actually thought Tito deserved it for the AL. He kept the Sox in contention all year with just about everything going against him. I don't think Washington got snubbed; he's not that good a manager. Gardenhire can't beat the Yankees, but you have to give him credit for winning the division without Nathan and Morneau for the 2nd half. Before this season, Gardenhire was kind of like the Jerry Sloan of MLB managers. He'd never won Manager of the Year.
  6. Wow, Greg Oden with another season-ending injury. Brutal. And to think Portland could have had Durant. Just like they could have had MJ. Instead, Sam Bowie. Rough to be a Trail Blazers fan... You know what I love? How the Heat were so desperate to unload Beasley, and now he's running away with being a number one scoring option in Minnesota. Meanwhile, Bosh hasn't looked comfortable at all with the Heat as their third scoring option. Plus, Beasley is like five years younger than Bosh. Can't believe no one mentioned what Kevin Love did the other night.
  7. Good post. If the trading price is right, I'd much rather have Upton than Crawford. Younger, hasn't reached his ceiling yet, 5-tool player. What's not to like?
  8. Would have been a decent haul if there had been another reliever and some prospects included in the deal. But Uggla for Infante and Dunn is not even close to equal value.

I honestly think the NL vote could have gone either way. But whether you want to admit it or not, a catcher who can rake is far more valuable than a right fielder. By my count, Posey only had one bad month, so that argument doesn't work for me. And Posey has a gun behind the plate. Threw out 37% of baserunners who ran on him. Like I said, could have gone either way. But I would have voted for Posey as well.
  10. If they got Greinke, my rotation would be: Lester Greinke Buchholz Beckett Lackey
  11. Bill James' projections for Jesus Montero with the Yanks: .285/.348/.519 for an OPS of .867 in 442 PAs, 126 games, 21 HRs, 29 doubles, 67 RBIs, 54 runs scored
  12. De La Rosa is pretty much another version of Jonathan Sanchez, only he still hasn't refined his stuff.
  13. How long will Riley stick with Spoelstra? I'd say he'll give him another month, at least, and if things still haven't picked up, he'll take over.
  14. James also projects him to steal 43 bases and hit 39 doubles. That would be one helluva first full season.
  15. Yeah, so much drama here. Will he sign with the Yankees in November, December, or January? Stay tuned!!!
  16. LOL wut? Are people actually arguing that Manny is better than Dunn right now?
  17. Five years is one or two years too many for a guy who will be 32 next season, IMO.
  18. Jeter is really the only questionable pick. And by questionable, I mean wtf. I probably would have given Daric Barton the GG for first base and Alexei Ramirez the GG for shortstop.
  19. There is a God.
  20. Kalish could be MLB-ready right now. Guys has a lot of tools. From what I saw in the Rising Stars AFL game, Lavarnway sees the ball real well against lefties and has an advanced approach. But he was kind of a disaster behind the plate. Good arm, though. Still has a ways to go there. Iglesias looked smooth in the field and relaxed at the plate. I like his stance, actually. Needs to learn how to drive the ball more.
  21. I would think so just because Drew has been so good in right at Fenway. Werth has a good arm for a right fielder. His arm is well above average for left field.
  22. Right... because I said he was dumb.
  23. For once, Moss was right. Childress is a pretty bad coach.
  24. Would've rather gone after Dunn to replace Ortiz. He's younger and better.
