  1. Classy Yankee fans.
  2. Soriano's contract is awful. Don't forget about Zito. He's signed through 2013.
  3. Haha, yeah I knew I was going to get s*** for liking him. What can I say? I like watching him hit.
  4. Drew and Gonzalez have held their own against lefties. Ortiz held his own, too, before the previous 2 seasons, but it's safe to say he's now vulnerable. Crawford and Ortiz are the only guys I would worry about against LHP. Salty will likely grab some pine when they face lefties. That's why they brought Tek back.
  5. Rothschild, now Prior, might re-sign Wood, might trade for Zambrano. Too funny.
  6. Woud've easily had over 300 wins had he not missed those years to the war. Dominant pitcher.
  7. I think the Yankees would love to get him. I also think it's a pipe dream.
  8. NBA: Dwyane Wade (pre-LeBron), Blake Griffin, Steve Nash, Manu Ginobili, Rudy Gay, Josh Smith, Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton, Lamar Odom, Shaq (love his personality) NFL: Adrian Peterson, Drew Brees, Brian Westbrook, Steve Smith, Hines Ward NHL: Pavel Datsyuk, Ryan Miller, Scott Gomez MLB: Evan Longoria, Yadier Molina, Robinson Cano (Sue me), Ryan Zimmerman, Chase Utley, Ichiro, Torii Hunter, Shin-Soo Choo, Adam Dunn, Justin Verlander, Justin Upton, Jay Bruce, Jason Heyward, Buster Posey
  9. Hideki Matsui 1 year $4.25 million with Oakland.
  10. Pretty sure Williams won't trade Danks, and Buehrle is entering his last season. He may retire. But I know Williams is dangling Floyd out there.
  11. If Stubbs continues to whiff at that alarming rate, I agree with you. But if he makes strides, he has more upside than Victorino.
  12. Cabrera probably won't be the Reds' SS in 2011. If it's Paul Janish, big advantage to Philly, although Janish is good defensively. I'm thinking they'll give Zack Cozart a chance if Janish struggles. Stubbs and Victorino is pretty close. I would expect Stubbs to keep improving. I'd say it's a draw.
  13. Pettitte has a lot more leverage now in negotiations. Unless the Yankees do something miraculous with their rotation, this is a brutal blow.
  14. They also have Domonic Brown to fill the void left by Werth leaving. He won't be as good as Werth currently is, but in a few years he could be a beast. They are now easily the best team in the NL. I'm thrilled that the Yanks didn't get Lee, but the Phillies will be tough to beat if the Sox face them in the WS. If Beckett and Lackey don't step up, it won't be a contest.
  15. The Giants obviously have a deep rotation, but Lincecum and Cain are the only starters they have I would be afraid of. I think Sanchez is overrated and Bumgarner is still developing. The Phillies have a much better offense than San Fran. If they get Lee, they're a lock to get to the WS and probably the favorites to win it.
  16. Which begs the question: Who will be Plan B? Webb?
  17. Prediction: Crawford won't be batting third by the All-Star Break.
  18. Really hope Lee doesn't end up with the Phillies. A rotation of Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, and Hamels would simply be unfair to the rest of the league.
  19. Exactly. I wouldn't go after Martin. I also think Montero's bat will be special. Posada has 1 year left on his contract. The Yankees will probably let him walk. You don't have to have a great catcher to win a WS. You guys have proven that over and over again. I would live with whatever Montero gives me for a year and then go from there. If he is passable, maybe you keep him there. If not, you move him to DH and get a catcher next offseason, or bring up Romine.
  20. He'll be 27 next year, entering his prime. The assumption shouldn't be that he'll get hurt. You can have a contingency plan in place (Scutaro), but we shouldn't just automatically assume the worst. Besides, he could get hurt as a bench player as well.
  21. I know I already said this, but I say give him a chance to see if he can hold down the position. The Sox have absolutely nothing to lose. He clearly has a much higher ceiling than Scutaro. He does well, and Scutaro becomes a utility player, which is where he probably belongs. He gets hurt, you go back to Scutaro, and you're no worse off than you were before. No downside to letting him start at short.
  22. It would be foolish to trade Montero, IMO. Unless you think he's going to be a bust. In which case, sure, sell high.
