  1. I'm not saying he doesn't have a chance to get called up soon. He obviously does. But I think right now tho there are a couple options in front of him. They can stick with with Holt and Snyder for the time being. If that doesn't work they can go to WMB if he has shown them what they want to see in AAA. They could also see if the Phillies aren't asking for an arm and a leg for Young. He's a decent short term option if no one too noteworthy is in the package. Maybe Cecchini(sp?), he's a solid prospect but looks to have a possible log jam in front of him at 3B with Iggy showing he may very well be an everyday SS and thus moving Bogey to 3B. Regardless I think there are multiple options right now, the Sox aren't up against it when it comes to 3B yet.
  2. I figured if it was coming from me it would quicken the "moving back towards topic" direction instead of maybe one of the newer posters saying something and have it end up a 3 page s*** tossing contest, which ultimately happens anytime "fred" and "fan" wind up in the same sentence.
  3. Did you really need to add you .02 here? Fred is capable of handling himself, he doesn't need you to come hold his hand every time someone calls him out for being "too fred like" lol It's just going to start more crap and glut up the thread that has some decent conversations going on at the moment. Bogey seems to take a few weeks to adjust when he bumps up a level. He's going pretty good now. But shouldn't be promoted until September. There are other options before him. Now if he does get promoted I won't be too upset.
  4. Holt is more likely to be called up.
  5. Good points. I could see them concentrating on more premiere positions and leave 1B open-ish for a guy that can hit but needs to move off his current position.
  6. Could be the case, he's just the guy that sprang to mind when I was reading your post. We need a list of teams with good 1B prospects that are blocked
  7. I wonder is Seattle would conside trading Smoak? He's hit pretty decent this season. His slash line might get a bump leaving Seattle.
  8. Damn I forgot Carp, he's absolutely been a surprise. a700, an elbow could go quick in random food fight lol Necks can be tricky. I had a guy earlier this season that slept wrong and he was completely out of whack for like a month. It was crazy. I finally had to sit him for two weeks. It sounds whimpy I agree, but I've seen what it can do first hand, so I'm trying not to get to down on Buc. Whats important is he is back by August imo. September at the latest. If he's back before then, great. But if not I'm not going to get frantic yet.
  9. Surprises: Lackey( I was probably one of the biggest Lackey haters before ST, He gained a lot of respect from me for how good of shape he came in at and the results so far are inarguable), Salty(still not extactic about his defense but it has gotten moderately better, his approach at the plate seems better as well), Nava(I thought he was a solid 4th OF/1B option, he keeps up his season this way and I will be in the "He's starting LF fulltime in 2014" camp), Iglesias(the bat, I was confident in his glove), Dempster("Dumpster" as I called him days prior to his signing has been decent and ate up a lot of innings so far). Disappointments: Doubront(really thought this was the season he'd take a big step forward but it looks like he's stuck in neutral most nights, he's still young and I wouldn't give up on him yet, but I won't be surprised if he is moved in the off season), WMB(He went right off a cliff, not much else to say, has more then enough talent to hold onto for now, hopefully he's making the right adjustments in AAA and this is just a bump in the road), Lester(has been either really good or really bad. Not something you want out of your ace, I don't think he's finished, but it be nice if he'd find it soonish), Bailey(started off good, wait and see mode here), Hanrahan(Injured, not much else to say)
  10. Probably both teams hang up. But the Angels first more likely. WMB is a ? mark and OF is not what the Angels need.
  11. ewww Doubront and Brentz for 2 months of Santana? Pass.
  12. No fred, it's not all about this season. You have to take the future into consideration. That's how you sustain prolonged winning. When you blow your load and dump everything and one shot and it doesn't work out, you get 2012. I understand your concern for what they are going to do to help "this year" as I have some them as well. But when considering the future it's going to have an effect on who they will be in on. Lee is too expensive and Garza most likely too. SP is at a premium this time of year and Garza has managed to pitch decent so Theo is going to as for at least one top 10 prospect(just my guess) and will likely get it as there just isn't many bug name SP available. My guess is to what they do? I have a couple thoughts. 1. Trade for a #4 or 5. Some guy to eat innings nothing overly on the excitement meter. 2. Go with a combo of Webster/RDLR/Ranaudo or some other in house prospect option. 3. Trade for RP and/or sign Brian Wilson 4. If they get really creative they could shop Lester(I could see them moving him if they had a replacement, I think they shop him next off season regardless), Drew, and WMB(I'd rather they didn't, but hey this one was supposed to be creative) and see what offers come back. One other concern I have is Lackey. Not in how he's pitching, but how long can he do it? I haven't read anything, but common sense tells me he has to have some kind of innings limit coming off TJS? I mean if it was the last year of his deal then they could say f*** it and run him out there until his arm fell off. Anyone have any info about this topic? ANd I also think Lackey gets shopped after the season. If he continues to pitch like this all season, his value will never be hire.
  13. I know the question wasn't directed at me but(lol) It's Iggy's job until his offensive output gets weak enough that giving WMB another shot seems like a better option. But I think Iggy can hold a decent line. His speed is better then I previously thought and it's allowed him to get on base without having to drive the ball every time. Pedroia's hustle mentality looks like it's wearing off on him. It's possible Drew gets moved. I think he has played decent enough that if a team is looking for a SS, Drew would be an attractive option. It's also possible they just hold onto him and WMB stays in AAA until September. After that I'm expecting to see him at 1B next season.
  14. I know it was probably a pain for you yezir, but I did laugh when I saw it It was just so out of nowhere it caught me off guard. Like YOTN said, at least we are getting noticed.
  15. That be a pretty sweet retirement gift
  16. Brentz would be the guy to convert Guy has an absolute howitzer for an arm.
  17. I think with the depth in the IF he might be a trade chip down the road.
  18. Every time iortiz gets cornered in a discussion he lobs "chicken and beer" into the middle of it in a last ditch effort to win lol He's hell bent against Bailey and not going to let in even when it's been laid out in great detail infront of him that his stance is just not in correct but also silly. I mean seriously he has one more blown save then the great Papelbon of OZ and 2 more then Mo. It's not like he's blowing a couple games a week.
  19. I predicted last winter Bogaerts would be at 3B, Iggy at SS and WMB at 1B in 2014. I'm gonna stick to it.
  20. I threw up in my mouth when I read that proposal. That is horrendous. Whomever wrote that had to have been joking. Maybe temporary insanity. That trade is so bad on so many levels.
  21. I think they should be in on Brian Wilson when he starts throwing here shortly for teams. Will only cost money and will be some competition back there for Bailey.
  22. It's gotta be something a700. Most fans would love having the type of prospect RDLR is. He's an unfinished product and fred has written him off already and it's just hard to understand why.
  23. So you selling on him because of what he was doing in the season heading into his TJS? lol And I guess it totally unheard of for a 21 year old hitting triple digits to have some control issues. RDLR is a legit SP prospect and I don't see how anyone could argue that unless they have an agenda. Maybe RDLR slighted you some how or maybe you can't stand the thought of him turning into a really good pitcher as it would lead to even more praise to Cherries for maybe the biggest steal since the Louisiana purchase.
  24. Middlebrooks has had a terrible season. His numbers are going to look awful the rest of the season no matter what most likely because of the horrendous start. We should be waiting a couple weeks and then look and see what WMB line looks like since his return from the DL. That will be a more realistic overall view of how he is doing and if a move needs to be made.
