  1. Still not someone I move the top guys for, but he would definitely be interesting.
  2. If Cecchini is the best prospect going back I'd be interested. Not sure how any team avoids trading one of their top pitchers for Lee tho, and that would worry me. UN was saying Ranaudo's value is sky high, he might interest the Phillies, but if Ranaudo is pitching that good it's hard to want to trade him.
  3. Fair enough. I knew Ranaudo's stock was up but didn't realize it to be that high. Has Cecchini finally started hitting for power? Last time I read something about it, it was saying it hadn't come around yet and his power potential ceiling was pretty low. But that was probably back in early May.
  4. So he is still crushing mistakes and looking like Roger Dorn the rest of the time?
  5. Castoffs? Norris is a solid SP and Veras is averaging over a K per inning. You wouldn't want that added to the pen right now? Maybe the offer I thought up is too much, but each one of those guys is blocked by at least one prospect that's better overall.
  6. Really? All 3 are blocked and the highest rated one is a CIF that lacks power. I don't like trading away the kids but the Sox are not likely to feel the pinch in the development department. Norris is a good mid rotation guy that is controllable passed this season and Veras is a good BP arm at a time when they come at a premium. Any team looking to acquire them is going to have to give a decent package. Is this my ideal situation? Certainly not. I'd rather they keep everyone and throw money at Wilson and Gonzalez. This was just an idea to kick around while we wait for something better to talk about pops up.
  7. Gonzalez and Wilson!!
  8. It be great to see that. Is WMB getting his s*** together finally? I haven't been following closely.
  9. Pretty much how I feel. Not many SP I'd be interested in at this point. I think Atlanta gets Peavy. The one deal that peaks the interest meter would be a package deal for Norris and Veras. Norris is more of the mid to back end SP the team needs and Veras has been decent out of the BP. Ranaudo + Brentz + Cechhini(or however the hell you spell it) would be a solid offer and not sting to bad in the prospect department. I've seen a lot of people wanting to trade WMB and to me that's a bad idea. They need to give him another season and if he hasn't progressed this time next year then a change of scenery may be in order. No sense in selling when his value is in the crapper.
  10. I think he gets a September call up and we will see from there.
  11. Any word on how long the delay is expected to be?
  12. Very carefully, my eyebrows took months to grow back after Crawford was signed
  13. God no, that is so terrible. The best prospects I would make available in certain trades are guys along the lines of Ranaudo, Workman, Brentz, Cechinni, Marrero, and Lavs. I wouldn't move any of the top guys for what's available at the moment. Ranaudo/Workman + 1 of the other 3 would be a decent haul if the Red Sox are picking some a decent amount of the check.
  14. I'd like to see them get this guy, he could go into the BP for the remainder of the Season and look to start next season.
  15. It's a clusterf*** of enormous scale.
  16. Long term potential? He signed for 2 more years after this year. It's not a long term move if you acquire Lackey, it's a "win now" move. The Rangers just dumped 4 prospects and a PTBNL or possibly 2 depending on who the Cubs select for a 2 month rental. The Jays gave up a top catching prospect and like what 3 other prospects for Dickey. The SP market this year in FA isn't too deep from what I recall(could be wrong). If the Sox make Lackey available he could be the best SP out there in the off season, which last season landed the Rays Will Myers and a few other high potential guys.
  17. Nice to see Lester with a solid outing last night.
  18. Not a trade but the Pirates just DFA'd Inge. Any interest there for some depth? I wouldn't count on him but maybe they catch lightning in a bottle with him for a month or so.
  19. You got me by the short and hairys there lol
  20. Dude it's whole decade later. Look at what teams are giving up for guys like Dickey(36 year old knuckler) and Garza(injury history, mid rotation SP and no control beyond this season). You could probably argue Lackey is better then both. We aren't saying deal him for a bag of balls, but it's not too hard to see if he pitches to a sub 3 ERA for the season the Sox might be able to get a couple top 10 guys from a team on the cusp of contention. And if that is the case the Sox need to really consider making the trade. Lackey has been the nuts this year, I just see it as more likely he regress's back a bit instead of keeping up a sub 3 ERA for the rest of his contract.
  21. I think Wilson is a must plus another BP arm and maybe a veteran SP for depth. I think they have enough to cover the left side of the IF for the season. I'd like to see WMB and/or Bogaerts get a shot come September just to see if one catches fire heading into the playoffs.
  22. At less than 15M a year the deal seems pretty team friendly. But this probably makes him close to the highest paid 2B in the league I would think(until Cano gets his deal). 2B overall just don't normally get the huge money deals. But yes I agree he looks to have left some money on the table(reasonable to think he might have gotten a 5/100 offer on the FA market) thus helping the team by giving it more money to use on other players.
  23. I agree, in terms of setting an example, he was the perfect candidate to give this kind of extension to.
  24. This is not a bad deal. Seven years is a bit long but it's only 14.3M per year. If it was for 20M a season I'd be much more worried. I hope Pedroia learns to save his body going forward. If he can keep producing until about 35 and then start to decline it wouldn't be too bad. Overall I'm glad to see he will seemingly finish his career in Boston, congrats to him and his family
  25. So is this trade official yet? Any names of who's going back? Anyone you not want to see going back Jacko?
