  1. I'd rather they traded Lackey or Lester. But I guess no one is untouchable. It have to be for a pretty eye popping deal tho.
  2. Ya Hafner is one foot out the door right now
  3. No probably not. But I'd sign him as soon as he is available anyways whether he's going to AAA or wherever.
  4. idk, I'd say it's an even 50/50 shot they trade him or extend him if he finishes strong. if someone offered a Shields type deal for him this off season it would be hard to pass up.
  5. Yes he is also a guy I have been reading about. He could be MLB ready this year but most likely next. I'd be excited if the Sox got him.
  6. I don't understand how a mid level prospect would be worth 18M next season? If I'm the Cubs that's not a very good deal imo. We will see I guess. I just thought they would be able to get more for him since there aren't that many big bats available and they are apparently showing they will pick up a huge part of the money.
  7. I grew up on Bugs Bunny, this was awesome hahaha
  8. If he pitches well the rest of the year they could certainly shop him still. He has shown enough inconsistency that giving him a long term extension is questionable.
  9. Yes they should be all over him. He only cost money and at this point $ is better gamble then shipping out prospects for a RP rental.
  10. Hopefully this will help him over the last mental hurdle.
  11. For Olt, Edwards, Grimm and a player to be named later. So glad the Sox passed.
  12. Doobey is finally starting to pitch like I had hoped he would back in the off season
  13. It's hard to see a scenario where they aqcuire more top prospect talent, add it to there already impressive group, and go try and make a deal for a SP better then Lackey? time to get the ol eyes checked haha
  14. I routinely offered to take shifts waiting outside his house to help carry his bags I think you have to consider trading Lackey. His value is likely never to be higher. And it's likely he isn't able to continue this pace(nothing against him, just with age and all). I think they should shop him and Lester. That would leave solid building blocks with Buchholz and Doobey and a innings eating veteran in Dempster. The Sox could look to bring in an Ace(no idea who but with the return prospects from a Lackey and Lester trades the Sox would have prospects galore). Or could look to fill from within. Whichever it may be it's an interesting scenario we will all sure be discussing in the off season.
  15. Happens to me every time too haha
  16. That be a pretty damn good young IF for the Cubs if Olt Blossomed like Rizzo.
  17. Garza shouldn't cost a ton because he is a 2 month rental with no draft pick attached to him. But given he's one of the better arms available and multiple teams will be in on him it will drive the price a bit. If I woke up tomorrow and saw the Red Sox traded for Garza giving up Workman and say Lavarnway, I wouldn't throw up in my mouth. But anything more then that and I'm not feeling good about it. He's a #3 type and sounds like the Cubs want a #1 package. Guess we will see.
  18. 10 seems fair. And no Joe Blows, I wanna see names
  19. Is it really a quantum leap tho? Like Jacko said he has always had this kind of power. What has changed is his approach at the plate and contact skills. Those are not the areas in hitting that get better with PED use. His power progression along his career hasn't spiked, he's just gotten more AB's. Dude could totally be juicing, that's just how it is in this new era of sports. But there's nothing that jumps out and makes me thing "he's on something". He also a week or two back came out and took a stance against PED use. So if he is using he's got a huge set of balls to put himself up on that pedestal and be using. Whatever, it's great to watch(albeit I wish it wasn't for a division rival) and I hope he breaks Bonds record as Bonds is a Giant douche(not because of PED use, he's just seems like a real douche).
  20. Jacobs isn't nothing. He is a decent prospect that has the tool set to be capable of a 20-20 season if he puts it all together. The Sox are fortunate enough to have a number of OF's in front of him and could take the chance of trading him. He probably is much further up the depth chart with the switch of color of his Sox.
  21. This looks like a fair deal for both sides. Thornton was a guy I was interested in and Jacobs is the kind of middling prospect with upside that I won't lose much sleep over. Unless of course he blossoms in Chicago haha but to be fair the Sox have good OF depth in the minors and he was a little ways down the list.
  22. No, it's passed the super two cut off date for this season.
  23. Sucks that Miller is out for the season. He was good so far. I've seen them connected to Thornton, wouldn't be bad I guess. Less is still a no for me. If it's a straight money dump with middling prospects going to Philly then fine, but the odds of that at this point seems silly as Lee could be the best SP available at the TDL.
  24. Workman I would say ok. But Ranaudo switching to the BP and then most likely going back to the rotation next season worries me. Cecchini may very well be the most attractive prospect trade chip that's available in the right deal. I wouldn't think he has "untouchable" status right?
