  1. How funny is this? The Yankees matched the White Sox 8 runs in the top of the second with 8 runs of their own in the bottom of the second.
  2. First of all, to chime in here, doubles DO translate more into homeruns as players mature and grow into their bodies more than singles. This is pretty much an accepted fact in baseball. Secondly, Lester has a very low value to any team. Would you trade for a player coming back from cancer? The Red Sox had a phenomenal trade deadline, while we realized that Cashman should be shot. I just hope that your relative lack of depth in the rotation will be your undoing. Other than that, I can't see the Yankees getting close to you guys this season.
  3. Are you sure you are talking about the right person here? Well, those pesky Mariners won't lose, but with the Tigers dropping their game, as well as the Guardians, the Yankees can almost taste the wildcard, only two games out at the end of play today. Guardians 60 47 .561 -- Mariners 59 47 .552 1 Yankees 58 49 .542 2 Twins 55 52 .514 5 Blue Jays 53 54 .495 7
  4. Cashman should be drawn and quartered.
  5. This is as s***** a pitching matchup as it gets. Both teams pen is in the game in the second inning. Probably the start of the 2nd inning.
  6. The Tigers are falling back to the pack as well. They are only one game in front of the Guardians, and are losing 3-2 in the eighth as I write this. If they lose, and the Yankees win, the Yankees are only three back of the Tigers, and we only have to beat one of those two teams. I think Seattle is all smoke and mirrors, and is bound to fall off.
  7. The deal sucks. Anyway you look at it. Trading an arm, any arm, OUT of Torre's hand to get a below average firstbaseman in any way shape or farm sucks. Jacko, I rarely agree with you, mainly because I believe you think like a fan of a small market team, but I am surprised you like this move. Is the overall difference between Phillips and Betemit [Phillips is a much better defensive first baseman than Betemit] worth giving up those innings? Where the Sox gave up nothing to get Gagne, we got Betemit. For our workhorse out of the pen. True, he wasn't the best pitcher on our team, but he could take the ball three nights in a row, he could pitch more than one inning, and we replaced him with NOTHING. A below average firstbaseman, when we had one.
  8. Olney reports its down to the Red Sox and Brewers. The Yankees, Cubs, and Mets are out. f***. Gagne would have been perfect for the Yankees. Cashman should be fired now. Before the deadline.
  9. Another example of Cashman being clueless. Andy Phillips is a better player right now than Betemit, and the Yankees primary concern is bullpen, so he trades the most durable reliever he has. How clueless is this guy? Is he trying to get fired? The only way this deal even remotely makes any sense at all is if they have a deal in place for Gagne, and from what I hear they don't. I'm disgusted.
  10. So this guy is a glutton for punishment. I love it.
  11. Thank goodness it was only Pujols. You guys had me worried for a minute.
  12. Today, the chase begins anew. With Mussina against Contreras, expect a football score on this one. With Carmona going for the Guardians at home versus McCarthy and Texas, it may be tough for the Yankees to gain ground. However, a decent chance on gaining ground on Seattle, as they throw Weaver against Lackey in LA.
  13. The thing that complicates things for the Sox is that Gagne can reject a deal to them anyways. I think the Mets are actually the front-runners, mainly because Minaya has a clue.
  14. You guys are definitely in the playoffs. In the East, that could mean a Finals run.
  15. As it stands now, from what I've heard, Gagne can be had by the Sox for Buchholz or Ellsbury. They originally asked the Yankees for Hughes or Chamberlain, and have dropped their demands to Alan Horne or Ian Kennedy. Unless their demands drop, I can't see him going anywhere. I would think about Horne from our end. We'll see.
  16. I would like Arod to be clean of steroids [not really because he is a Yankee, but because he, Jeter, Varitek, etc., represent what's good about clean baseball players] because I really want Bonds hold on the record to be very short-lived.
  17. Damon sucks. Can we give him back to Boston?
  18. Ok...2004....all fine and good...but if you are a fan and historian of the Sox, then you should feel pain when I mention: 1946 1949 1967 1975 1978 1986 2003 I think you are out of your league on this one, buddy.
  19. The Devil Rays take two of three from the Sox. Yanks take two of three of four from Baltimore. Plymouth Rock falls in ocean. Guiness outlawed in New England. Anarchy reigns. This is my hope for this weekend.
  20. GO Guardians! 2-2 would be perfect. I no longer fear the Guardians. I see them falling off, contrary to my previous projection of them winning the Central. The taste of bloodlust is back. The Sox are reeling. The Yankees are flying. If you guys can lose two out of three to KC, you may lose two of three to Tampa after this. The Guardians are only two games behind you guys, and if we continue to smoke like this...well...lets just say I was too young to appreciate 1978. P.S. You should have let me start the thread. The Red Sox are undefeated when I start the game day thread. I've never lost for you guys, lol.
  21. I see your point, and what I should have said is that Hamilton hurt only himself. He didn't cheat [steroids], beat his wife [ORS would be here if he was a major leaguer ] or kill animals. He had a disease that sapped his life, future, etc. Doing cocaine doesn't make you a better player. Those are people, succeed or fail, that are trying to beat an addiction. You don't get addicted to steroids, or guns, or killing animals. I'm sorry I didn't qualify that before. However, I think the majority of the public believes as I do, Hamilton got an ovation from the opposing teams fans when he came to bat his first time. Can you ever see Vick getting cheered anywhere outside of his home stadium every again? Send him to jail for five years. Ban him from football for life. There. Now he can be GANGSTA with an AIDS-infested cock in his ass. Sorry for the visual.
  22. You know, I'd love to Schilling sign with the Tigers after his contract is up. Between him, Sheffield, and Kenny Rogers, is would probably be the most entertaining clubhouse since the Bronx Zoo.
  23. Ed Wade, former GM of the Phillies.
