  1. You need help.
  2. Although we didn't gain any ground on the front running Tigers, we have moved up in the list. Only three teams to go. Next on the list, the Angels. AL WILD CARD Team GB Tigers - Mariners 1 ½ Athletics 2 Yankees 5 ½ Twins 5 ½ Blue Jays 6 Orioles 6 ½ Devil Rays 7 ½ White Sox 7 ½ Rangers 12 ½ Royals 13 With Clippard going today, I don't like our chances, but here's hoping the bats carry them and the Mets do some damage up in Detroit.
  3. The world's worst manager would be a blend between Tito's pinch-hitting picks and Torre's bullpen management.
  4. With that cloning yourself and being gay question CrespoBlows posted, I don't think anyone is sure anymore. I don't know how it is in Boston, but in New York, the spin machine ridiculously hypes every player that comes up, in part to boost their potential trade value. The players who tend to make it are the ones that aren't overlly hyped. Jeter, Posada, Mariano, Wang, even on the other side of town, Reyes and Wright, etc. Being a huge media market, there is some hype, but when a player is hyped too much, it gets me to start thinking. I disagree with Jacko on all these prospects. If you gave me a chance to trade Hughes for Teixera, I would do it in a heartbeat. Prospect is just that. A prospect, and not a sure thing.
  5. Gesundheit.
  6. As long as it has 12 ounce drinks, I'm cool with it. It's just fun poking fun at you. You make it too easy, and take it too personally, I can't help it, lol.
  7. You know, July 1st, 2004, the Sox lost a series to the Yankees (I was at the game when Jeter went headfirst into the stands). The Sox were 8 1/2 games behind the Yankees. From what I remember, the season ended pretty well for the Sox. Can the Yankees win the division? Not realistically. If they do, I intend to move across the street from ORS and paint my house in pinstripes. Can they make the playoffs? 5 1/2 on June 9th? Absolutely.
  8. I said that from the beginning. I also said that about Bernie Williams, and we see how that turned out. Sorry ORS, I don't suck the cock of everyone on my team because he is a rookie. I just don't see what is so enticing about the guy. His bat speed isn't that great, his footwork at second base and turning the dp isn't special... Eh...I could be wrong, but I think he won't adjust when the pitchers do. I do want him to succeed though, he looks like a gamer from the few games I have seen him play.
  9. I'm not so sold on this kid. I don't know if he will make it in the long haul. I think it may be more a flash in the pan kinda thing.
  10. I love it! I'm getting turned on. When you get tired of the Greek God of Walks and would rather be with the Greek God of..oh, never mind. The bad thing about this union between Youk and Youkette [i think I just Yacked] is that it will probably result in off-spring who will be force-fed into Red Sox Nation, and in less lenient circles, constitutes child abuse of the highest degree.
  11. Jacko, you have way too much free time. So much in fact, I am starting to worry about you and have some "people" I would like you to talk to. Nice report, btw.
  12. Most of these guys don't pan out, so it's kind of hard to get excited about a player who MAY make the major leagues in four years.
  13. Hey example1, Isn't saying you regretted throwing a pitch that resulted in a homeun kinda redundant? I mean, in the history of baseball, has any pitcher NOT regretted the pitch when it resulted in a homerun? "You know Jim, he may have hit the facing of the upper deck and nearly killed a 12 year old quadraplegic eating ice cream through a straw, but I'm real happy with that hanging curveball. It broke just enough for hitter to be able to get the fat part of the bat on it. I mean if he hit the ball a little harder, it actually could have gone into orbit."
  14. We gained a game on Detroit, so now the wild card standings stand as follows: AL WILD CARD Team GB Tigers - Mariners 1 ½ Athletics 2 Twins 4 ½ Orioles 5 ½ Yankees 5 ½ Blue Jays 6 White Sox 6 ½ Devil Rays 7 ½ Royals 12 Rangers 12 ½ Five down, five to go, 5 1/2 behind the Tigers. LETS GO METS!
  15. Against all grains of logic that I may possess, I still love my team and *believe* they will make the playoffs [believe in this case is purely emotional and devoid of all conventional logic]. Currently, the Yankees are 6.5 games out of the wild card, and I will update [fellow fans, feel free to update it as well] their impossible quest for another playoff appearance. If this is actually attained, knocking the Red Sox out of the playoffs if we make the ALCS should be a cakewalk. As of today, 6/8/07 here is the Wild Card Race: AL WILD CARD Team GB Tigers - Mariners 2 ½ Athletics 3 Twins 4 ½ Blue Jays 6 Orioles 6 ½ Yankees 6 ½ White Sox 6 ½ Devil Rays 7 ½ Royals 13 Rangers 13 ½ Three teams down, five to go.
  16. Thats why I come to this site. For exactly the reasons you stated HeadofSoxNation.
  17. You know, I was watching Clemens 20 strike out game on NESN against the Mariners. In the first inning, he dusted Spike Owen on two consecutive pitches. Now...benches would have emptied, both teams warned, etc. Baseball players may have gotten bigger, but they have become bigger pussies.
  18. I have no idea who these kids are. I am more interested in free agents, lol. Old habits die hard.
  19. Oops, double post, lol.
  20. I actually wonder who felt more nervous, you or us. I can't believe any of you felt more tense then we were. You guys probably feel the same way. What a game that one was. Even though 2001 hurt 100x more than 2004, games 4,5, and 7 were unbelievable. You know what's funny about 2003? I can't remember what happened the first 6 games.
  21. Beckett had one post-season. Schilling is a post-season monster. So the answer would be yes. I think being in the post-season will have no negative effect on any pitcher, even Dice-K who has been there. You won't see a melt-down from any of them. Even the other guys, Wake and Mussina have done a good job in the post-season at times. Just imagine, Yanks/Sox 4-4, ninth inning in Fenway. Game 7. First and third, 1 out, Arod at the plate against Papelbon. Pedroia, Ortiz, Manny, Youk coming up for the Sox against Mo. That...would....be....freakin' sweet. You know, I will say this, the Aaron Boone game was great for us. As soon as he hit it, it was gone, and a great feeling. However, I can say this. Being at that game, the best moments were from right after Posada's bloop hit until the homerun. That tension, that nervousness, that gut-wrenching feeling. I sat next to a Sox fan for two innings [i was so nervous, I was moving around, switching seats trying to catch some magic]. Man, I will never forget him saying "In a way, I'm glad you tied the game. We wouldn't want to win any other way". I had a lot of respect for him, and all fans of RSN, after that. I remember Ortiz popping a ball a mile high against Mariano. I almost threw up. That's what I hope I can feel this post season, if my team makes it. Extra innings in a game 7. Can it get any better?
  22. Beckett Schilling Matsuzaka vs Wang, Pettitte and Clemens. Oh, that would be sweet. Tell you the truth, and we could debate this for months, but for this year, I like our three better. It is OH SO CLOSE though. I take our hitting over yours, and your pen over ours. There is really little doubt that this would go the full seven.
  23. Well, we have a long road to climb to even get to that point. You guys have pretty much clinched a playoff spot. What I am hoping for is to gain two games on the Tigers this weekend. I need my cross-town friends can help me out.
