  1. I have to say, Cano falls asleep while playing like Manny does sometimes, but he always hustles. However, he makes that play to his right better than any secondbaseman in baseball. If he gets to the ball over the bag, you're out, even if your name is Ichiro. He has as strong an arm at second in the game.
  2. So this thread isn't trolling? LOL! Glad to see that this thread has created a meaningful discussion. I would have to say I would take Cano over Pedroia. I am tough on players unless they do it for more than one year, I would have to see Pedroia do it again next year to be convinced. Too many one year wonders. As it is, I think that Pedroia will be a better version of Eckstein. One of those gamers, the gritty type player. Cano reminds me of a young Carew, with more power, and not as good an eye. He has that sweet swing Carew had. Both players are solid, but I think Cano will have the better career.
  3. Where were you yeszir?
  4. At the risk of being called a troll by some idiots, here is a more "happy" comparison: Cano or Pedroia? Cano is one year older at 24. Cano a slightly higher OPS [.843 to .784]. Pedroia is more of a contact hitter with a better eye, with Cano having more power. Both hit for average. I don't know much about Pedroia's fielding, someone here enlighten me, but Cano is as good as I've seen in a long time going to his right and throwing from behind the bag. Who would you take for the rest of this year, and for their career?
  5. Seriously, I don't know. I am sure the Yankees have a better pyth, but I'm curious to what it is, and also, what the second level thing you brought up once before. I had never heard of it. From where do you get this info, anyways.
  6. Gagne's ERA with the Red Sox is nearly 20. Yup, don't know baseball. NEXT. This wasn't a question about the Red Sox pen. Just a question about two good relievers [and in Gagne's case, an incredibly great reliever] in the past, who are having problems this season. Everyone knows how dominant Gagne has been, and Farnsworth's ERA in the three season's prior to coming to the Yankees was 3.30, 4.73, and 2.19. I never bought this past accomplishment stuff after a player has had serious injury, especially pitchers. I watched the Sox games with Gagne, and he topped out at about 92-93 with little movement on his pitches. Farnsworth regularly tops out at 96. I think Farnsworth's stuff at the moment is better, and he has a better upside, but Gagne has an infinitely better makeup. Gagne now rates as your third or fourth best pitcher in the pen, after Paps, Oki, and depending on where you put MDC. With the Yankees, he is buried behind the batboy. So my queston is valid. Right now, for the next 7 weeks of baseball, who would you rather have? What about after this season? Just like what you guys did to Nomar right? So these are your true colors when your team starts to fall apart. I love it! I'm not a big Boone fan, never was, just a huge fan of that moment. Don't forget, we only got Arod after your FO dropped the ball. As for buying players, lets see...12 of the 25 players on the current roster are home grown. How many do you have? Try again. Exactly how did I disappear? For two weeks, and when I came back, my team had made up, what, 2 games [10.5 to 8.5]? Yeah, going got real tough there. Sorry, had to take care of a death in the family, you nitwit. Oh yeah, it was out of the country. You can't take me posting on this site? Aww, poor baby. Shall we call your mommy over to kiss it and make it feel better? I come to this site because most of the Yankee fans act like you do. You don't find the quality of posters you find like Jacko, Schillingouttheks, Yeszir, ORS, and company. You aren't included in this list. As for cheering for the only "sure thing" on earth, I cheer for the New York teams. Guess why? I live in New York. I cheer for the woefull Knicks, Rangers, Islanders, Giants, and Jets [not really the Mets though]. Let me guess...you root for the Celtics right? Moron. Anyways, I will revisit this post at the end of the season, and compare the stats of the two players from when I started the post till the end of the season. What I was really saying was, who's the lesser of the two evils at this point?
  7. Just curious.... At this point, open for discussion...who would you take, Gagne or Farnsworth? Both for the rest of this season, and past that? Who would your pick be? I have to say, at this point, I would take Farnsworth long-term. I think he can right himself. For this year, I'm not sure. I would take Farnsworth by a hair, only because he doesn't seem to give up the big inning, just a run every inning. Your thoughts?
  8. Hey ORS, whats the Red Sox and Yankees according to pyth?
  9. Sorry to rain on your parade, but if you guys lose two of three to the D-Rays, you should start worrying about Seattle for the wild card. The thing is, we get the same O's you just had. If we lose two of three, then maybe we're not that much better than you are at this point. If we sweep them, different story altogether.
  10. Papelbon can't go two innings without blowing his shoulder out.
  11. Easy boys....
  12. This is the big series for you guys. You lose two out of three to the Devil Rays, you won't hold on to the division. I love the Red Sox annual swoon in August.
  13. Who would you rather have now? Farnsworth or Gagne? Hmmm.....
  14. I did, for Alan Horne. Not for anyone else really.
  15. Still anyone's game. Schilling pitched better than I thought, but Gagne is just plain awful. Carl Pavano anyone?
  16. Gom

    Abreu

They both suck. End of story. Why eat his salary to get a prospect or two? This isn't Sheffield. Also, what team A) needs an outfielder for a one year rental [in other words, a post-season team] is willing to pay him 13 million for one year c) Is willing to give up valuable or semi-valuable prospects? I would say no one. I expect the Yankees to offer him 8 million a year for two years. If not, he's gone, and replaced quite easily. Right now he makes 15.6 million. Next year, his option is for 16 million. What do you think 16 million a year would get you? Here is a list of the free agent outfielders after this season, with their age and salary. Left fielders Adam Dunn (28) - $13MM club option for '08; becomes free agent after season if traded Geoff Jenkins (33) - $9MM club option for '08 Luis Gonzalez (40) Barry Bonds (43) Brad Wilkerson (31) Center fielders Andruw Jones (31) Torii Hunter (32) Corey Patterson (28) Milton Bradley (30) Aaron Rowand (30) Mike Cameron (35) Kenny Lofton (41) Right fielders Jermaine Dye (34) Kosuke Fukudome (31) Bobby Abreu (34) - $16MM club option for '08 Milton Bradley (30) Geoff Jenkins (33) - $9MM club option for '08 Trot Nixon (34) Jose Guillen (32) - $9MM club option for '08 Shawn Green (35) - $10MM club option for '08 Eric Hinske (30) Not a single one of them will get 16 million a year.
  17. Orioles crush Schilling. Tracshel stymies Boston bats. Orioles win. I love this game.
  18. Jacko, where are you a resident? My brother is doing his rotations in Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn.
  19. Well, today's game is a free game for the Yankees. They won the series, so it's not a big deal. Swing game for the Sox and Mariners though.
