    You gotta let him sink or swim for the next 2 weeks. If he continues to hit .061, then you probably have to let him play in AAA next yr. You need a guy who can hit at least .240 playing SS when there is no other discernable offensive skill in the set. You'd almost be better off DH'ing for him and letting the pitchers hit

    The Yankees are proving this yr that a solid #1-#5 gets you places. When Nova and Pettitte were in the rotation, we rolled. When they werent, we were meat. Our "ace" in CC hasnt been great this yr and our #2 has been pitching past what was expected. But we gained our 10 game lead due to having #1-#5 give quality starts for nearly a 45 day span. Lester can be a quality starter and pidgeon holing him into a "spot" isnt necessary. If he can sustain a 4.40ERA through the season (which sans July, he has been doing), then he fits that mold. Buchholz has been great since mid May and Doubront has shown flashes. The problem has been your other two spots. With Beckett, Cook, DiceK, et al, you have had a steaming pile of dogshit. You dont need an ace or two. You need two guys who can throw 200IP and have an ERA in the low 4's to high 3's. You get that, and your pen will stabilize and you will improve. You dont get that, or you see Lester suck, Buchholz get hurt or Doubie regress, and you are cooked again

    It is effectively a $17 mil option since the buyout is $5 mil. His production is worth $17 mil, so I think they exercise the option. They have no other recourse. Floyd has regressed, Danks just had his shoulder scoped and Sale will be going into his second season after a massive IP jump.

    also, speaking of Edwin Jackson, he is showing that he can now avoid the bats a little (or he regressed to the mean in terms of BABIP), upped the K's and kept his BB level low. He should be looking at a nice pay day this offseason and he has shown he can do this in the AL as well. He's gonna be an option for you guys

    It takes time to build a new fan base. Over the next 10 yrs we will start hearing about the split O's/Nats fans and if they sustain this run, they will sell out. That being said, their park isnt known as a good one, so maybe the need to wait another 10 yrs to grow the franchise and get a new one

    Marcum missed a lot of time with elbow woes this yr. If you are going to pay a premium for him (he won't be cheap), you better not rely on him or else your season will be cooked should he go down

    Sounds like they're looking to be assessed. Every owner sans George (RIP) has a price. If the sox get appraised for $3+ billion and they get an offer in that ballpark, then he'd be dumb not to take it as it would be over a 100% ROI

    Lester walked 7 and we only scored 3 times off him. Girardi inexplicably leaves Robertson in for a second inning when he has ALWAYS sucked in his second inning of work. I am speechless right now. I hope Girardi gets locked in his bathroom tomorrow so we can actually have a f***ing chance

    I'd also say the same about Aviles. Iglesias is the future and should get the PT right now. If he gets beaten out by Aviles in the spring, so be it, but get the guy big league ABs. What's the worst thing that could happen?

    If you guys got Girardi, you'd be in last place for the next 3 seasons. It took nearly 120 games for him to start playing any sort of small ball with this pathetic lineup. I can only imagine what he'd do with an even more pathetic one
