  1. Lingering pain in the shoulder that's initially billed as bursitis? And now they're saying trapezius area? So that localized it to the posterior shoulder. I wonder how his rotator cuff is doing.
  2. I think there is no earthly way the sox part with that package for Lee and his near $25 mil salary. I think the sox make a move for Price. The Rays don't care about dealing in division mostly because they know if they let this guy hit FA, he's gonna sign in division anyway, so it is about the best prospect haul.
  3. I honestly think WMB will be traded before 2014. You have an all world talent in Bogaerts and WMB isn't far removed from a pretty successful run last yr. He's still young and still has light tower power. He just doesn't have the approach the sox require from purely offensive contributors. I think the sox live with Iglesias as their SS, even though there is no earthly way he continues to hit high .300s. I think there is a fair chance he hits under .250 next season, but with his slick D, he'd be worth a significant positive in the WAR category. I think Bogaerts moves to 3b, and even though he isn't the most patient in the world, his bat and solid D from that spot will make him a significant positive asset in the WAR category as well. I think WMB goes along with a few other pieces for an ace this offseason, maybe a David Price. And I think the sox might kick the tires on a guy like Morneau in FA
  4. That was a hell of an entrance for Mo
  5. Either the guy is the softest pitcher in baseball (possible) or he has an injury that is worse than let on
  6. Do the docs even know what he has? I highly doubt that a guy who has had pain for nearly 2 months in his shoulder and neck couldn't make it worse by pitching.
  7. Workman showed pitchability, but his stuff doesn't wow you. Webster looks like a scared little child on the mound but he has grown man stuff. He has Verlander type stuff. His breaking ball is filthy, his heater is hard and he even throws a changeup that has good bite. He just hasn't shown the polish nor the attitude I expect from a kid who should dominate in the AL East. Over the long haul, Webster will be given chance after chance due to his god given talent.
  8. Seeing as Tex is out for the yr and ARod is hopefully banished from the game forever, I hope the NL wins the ASG and I hope the NL takes the WS this yr. It'd be f***ing wild if the Pirates won. Not because I like Pittsburgh at all (f*** the Steelers), but more the fact that a team that has been dead for 2 decades deserves a little run when my team should be out of it
  9. Such anger, lol. Sore losers the bunch of ya
  10. I'm pretty happy with this Thornton acquisition thus far
  11. He has always had light tower power, he just never made good contact. He's making better contact and is now hitting the ball farther. It is certainly possible that the change is natural, it is also possible the guy is roiding out of his mind
  12. Yep, the defense and offense sucked cock. If they really try, we could nab a protected pick in next yrs draft
  13. Lester's FB velo per fangraphs is pretty much the same as last yr. I think the guy could thrive with a change of scenery
  14. ARod didn't show up for a game, and then refused an assignment to play for SWB due to a "bad quad" yet played last night in Tampa. The Yankees should suspend him for 10 games without pay, then let the MLB investigation run its course. I hope MLB does us a favor and gets rid of him
  15. I find SR so funny sometimes, lol. I am only saying that the sox didn't give up nothing. I also said I would have made the trade. But the ultimate need to be a complete and total homer consumes SR to his core and his need to fight everyone on every little detail makes him look, well, petty. Regardless, saying Jacobs cannot hit is pretty poor on his part. The kid has a .783OPS and is on pace for a near 20-20 season as a 22 yr old splitting time between High A and AA. Just like with all prospects, there is still a higher than 50% chance that this kid never makes it to the majors and a chance on top of that, that he does and pretty much doesn't make an impact. But he has power, he has speed, and he is young for his level. To say he is nothing is just plain stupid. I also highly doubt he would have been kept by a team claiming him on the Rule V since the kid has to stay in the majors for the entire calendar yr. You don't keep a guy who really isn't a 4th OFer type on your roster for 162 games. Regardless, this trade benefitted both sides, but it does have a chance to bite the sox in the ass eventually, something SR doesn't want to accept.
  16. A 150 game suspension for Arod being brokered by his people? Sounds like MLB is trying to suspend him for life. Go MLB!!
  17. Lester is probably getting traded in the offseason
  18. SR, I asked you a question. Would you be at all surprised if down the road, Jacobs had a 20-20 season in the majors?
  19. You gave up a player you could part with, I wouldn't say nothing. Would you be at all surprised if he has a 20-20 season in the bigs? I wouldn't. I also don't think he profiles as a star, either. It works for both sides
  20. This is a smart deal, although saying you didn't give up much isn't exactly accurate. Thornton is a power lefty who could fill Miller's shoes. SR is right in that he's been trending badly, but he's on a s*** club and it's still a few weeks away from the deadline. If he comes over and lights the world aflame, then you're happy. If he blows, you have time to get another guy before the deadline. I don't exactly think you have up nothing, though. Jacobs was a football player playing baseball. He started to get out of a stalled career path this yr and he has a rare combo of power and speed. He wouldn't have gone in the Rule V since he needs more MiLB grooming, but he has the potential to be a good player one day. The sox didn't have the luxury to wait. The White Sox do
  21. And Meh, Bird had been in a 2 for 30 slump prior to today. He's really young, but he is an uber talented kid who doesn't get the recognition he deserves because they had to move him off the C position. I love the fact that he's reaching base at a 40% clip and is on pace for 16HR or so as a 20yr old in full season. He reminds me a lot of Nick Johnson, except with a higher power potential. I hope he also shows better durability
  22. O'Neil is going to be unfairly linked to his uncle. The kid isn't a power guy. He's a contact hitter with great wheels who can man CF. If he doesn't learn some strike zone discipline, he'll be a backup. If he can relax a little and take some pitches, he could be something more. It's a safe pick, IMO. Jagielo and O'Neil were the safe guys from the top 5 rounds. I doubt either player is an all-star, but they both likely profile as big leaguers with their skill sets as they are. The other guys are projection.
  23. I think the biggest knock I read on Katoh was his power potential. 3HR in 13 games as an 18 yr old using wood for the first time really opens the eyes a little. The kid has some pop. He just needs to continue it as he progresses, but the raw skill is there
  24. From all that I read prior to the draft about the Yankees 2nd rounder, Gosuke Katoh, I was convinced this kid was an underslot signee the Yankees were going after because he was likely to stick up the middle. I was also convinced the kid had almost no pop. Damon Oppenheimer have a few interviews noting that he definitely stole Katoh from another team and that his power had been showing up significantly since he finished HS ball and in the workouts leading up the draft. I figured it was just a puff piece to sell us a kid who they were going to save $500K on signing. Well, that turned out to not be the case when they agreed to a full slot signing bonus. Then, he went to the GCL and is tearing it up. Granted, it is a SSS, but in 13 games, the kid has 8 extra base hits including 3HR's and is sporting a gawdy 1.199OPS. That is pretty impressive for an 18 yr old middle infielder in his first taste of pro ball. Oppenheimer may be onto something here.
