Judge wants overslot, the Yankees are offering slot. This is going to go down to the wire. If he signs, we get a big time talent that shouldn't have fallen to us. If he doesn't, we get a pick in the comp round next yr in what is supposed to be a deeper draft (believe that if you will). We should not offer overslot for him
The other thing is, he is betting on improving his draft stock. Lets say he does that, but the deeper draft sees him drafted in the mid 20s. What team in their right mind is going to offer a college senior that kind of coin? Appel is a special situation, I doubt the same can be said of Judge, and he'd lose most negotiating leverage. As we said before, the only option then would be Indy ball. He's better off signing, the Yankees aren't lowballing him
