  1. It damages the brand when a player continues to use in the uniform, circumvents the investigation into his usage and is suspended in the uniform.
  2. The dumbass Steiny brothers care only about next yr. The lux tax penalty will drop off to nothing for 2014 if they get under $189 mil and it will reset after that. If Fraud is suspended for 2014 and that allows us to reset the penalty, then we'll spend even with the albatross on the roster through 2017. The other interesting thing is that ARod's actual payout decreases after 2014 from $25 mil to $21 mil. That might also effect his AAV and his future lux tax with the higher salary being eliminated.
  3. mlbtr had a good thought on the topic. The Yankees cannot get out of a contract for PED usage, but they could sue the player for damage to the brand. I wonder if that might be an option and use the legal system to find a way to amicably depart from Fraud without footing the entire bill. If he is indeed suspended for all of 2014, I expect the Yankees to at least look into this opportunity. How interesting would that be, a civil suit against Fraud while he is suspended to potentially recoup some future salary commitments
  4. Being ready to pitch and being ready to pitch every day are two different things. If I were the sox, I'd sign him through 2014 and have him rotate in as closer for next yr.
  5. Iglesias needs to reach base over 30% of the time and hit at least .250 to be useable as a regular at SS. He's doing that this season, but his history shows he wont be doing that for long. His July is probably more indicative of his bat than anything else. I still think they take the added defense and run with it for now, but don't be surprised to see him relegated to super utility should the sox fall further behind in the AL East race
  6. It looks like MLB is going to suspend ARod through the 2014 season. But due to appeals, he'll be able to play with NY this yr, most likely. This isn't the best case scenario, but it lets the Yankees have some offense from a position that has effectively died (3b) for this yr while taking his heinous salary off the books for their crucial "reset" season next yr.
  7. Have you looked at Peavy's numbers? Yeah, his ERA isn't great, but the guy has a 1.14WHIP, nearly a K per inning and a walk rate that is insanely low. He's healthy too and he's under team control past this season. He's worth a lot.
  8. The bat dicks and crushed skulls almost invariably come after he creates a new screen name making fun of me and then sending PM's out to everyone with pics of his family
  9. Exactly, and right now Peavy is the best starter on an uber thin starters market. He's going to return a king's ransom
  10. He's got a torn plantar fascia. I had that, it is an injury that will be with you for a long, long time if it isn't fixed. And even after surgery, there is no guarantee it will work. If he gets complete relief, he could return to prominence. If he doesn't, then he's probably done as an impact bat
  11. Back to the topic, the sox have a dire need for another starter and pen help. Nathan has just jumped out as a player on the market, he might be a good find to close out games. In terms of starters, I have a feeling the sox have something up their sleeve, because without a top notch addition to the rotation, they aren't winning anything this yr
  12. And another Dutchy bites the dust. I wonder what amazing monicker we'll see from him this time.
  13. Iortiz, if you suck for a decade and get 10 top 10 picks, you better be good or else your management team should be fired. Their GM has done a good job of taking that big talent and dealing it when it's value is at its highest and further replenishing the system. I can only imagine who they're gonna get for Price
  14. They're done. They have been since Tex went down again. Cashman continues to get overruled as GM. The Steinbrenners are f***ing morons now. When Big Stein was in charge, money didn't matter. Now, money matters, but in a crunch they'll throw money at a problem then ask Cashman to clean it up. It might be better if the Steiny's just sell. On a good note, Nova is really having a good season and seems to be fully healthy again. His stuff is sick and if he's locating and striking people out he could be ready to take the next step as a big time starter
  15. You may not be desperate, but I bet the sox are. Buchholz said he might be able to get in 3-4 games before the end of the year. Lester has been pretty up and down. And Lackey is s***ing the bed tonight with less velo than he had had in previous outings. You need one more starter
  16. It all depends on who else is on the market. If Peavy is the only big name out there, then expect an overpay. WMB plus Alex Wilson isn't getting it done. At the deadline, you pay a much higher price since you are desperate
  17. Absolutely, you have to try and sign him. I am just saying he is probably not your 2013 saviour
  18. Exactly. You listen to the game, stop moving when you hear a homer or big play then proceed during commercials and boring plays.
  19. They need another starting pitcher. Without one, I think the O's and Rays will surpass them
  20. His velocity is declining, which is a sign of wear and tear/age.
  21. Have you thought about banging with the game on?
  22. He had been locating, albeit with some subpar stuff. Now, his stuff is still subpar but his location is horrendous. Every pitch tonight is belt high, down the middle. I can accept the loss of velocity as a sign of decline. A complete and sudden loss of command tells me something else.
  23. CC looks injured. His velo was down early in the year, but his stuff was biting. His velo is still down, but everything is hanging
  24. CC is sucking a gaggle of cock
