  1. The Red Sox have been pretty spot on with their contract deals for pitching, IMO. Rarely are they giving the "franchise savior" deal to a pitcher. Lester on the open market will get a 6+ yr deal. Plus, after 2014, Lester will be 31. A 6 yr deal takes him to 37, and with all the pitching this guy has done, will likely entail him losing his velo early on in that deal. Also, the warning flags are still there on Lester. Even though his ERA has improved, his K rate is still low for his standards and his FB velo is 1.3mph off from his peak in 2009. I honestly think the sox are going to definitely ride it out this yr, then consider dealing him in the off-season. If they don't get a deal to their liking, they'll let him reach FA and take the pick. A guy like Lester on a 6 yr deal starting in 2015 is a disaster waiting to happen
  2. That sound was the end of Joe Blanton's career
  3. Good to see vintage Andy. The guy still can shut down opposing lineups.
  4. Picks 6-10 were easy signs for most teams last yr 11-15 typically sees 2-3 tough signs. After that, it's a crap shoot
  5. SR, I'm a fan of the the Palladino pick too. He's a giant with a good heater. Wade won't be a cheap draftee btw. He can run, he makes good contact and will stick as a SS. Those guys aren't lighting up the draft board. He's gonna be an overslot signee for sure.
  6. well, enjoy. I gotta go to work
  7. probably a pen arm from what they're saying
  8. Myles Smith to the sox in the 4th round.
  9. Yeah, they say he is far too amped up when he plays and he needs to tone it down a bit. Hyperaggressiveness is okay if you are an elite player. He isn't.
  10. He does. He's got a good hit skill, but the power skill is hard to peg. Could be good power, could be minimal.
  11. I agree. The sox have Swihart starting to come around, so they don't necessarily need him to stick at C.
  12. Bang
  13. Yankees select Michael O'Neill. This is not a surprise
  14. Looks like the scouts are contradicting themselves. Regardless, getting a prep bat like his is something good. It's their best pick, IMO. Especially for where they got him
  15. He's big, and while he receives well, he doesn't move that well.
  16. There goes Milone. He was another kid who the Yankees had on their radar. I wonder if O'Neill is going to NY?
  17. I want Wahl!
  18. Sox get Denney
  19. Clarkin is the guy who I think has a high floor as well as a high ceiling. Judge has a bigger ceiling with a considerably low floor. Jagielo has a good ceiling with a high floor, but he's got the lowest ceiling of the three. Overall, I think Clarkin does end up the better pro of all three assuming good health.
  20. draft restarts at 1, I have to leave for work at 2:20. f***!
  21. We do agree there
  22. I heard on another site that Serrano already said he's going to college
  23. Pettitte used to be able to. And how do you know this kid will be a starter?
  24. BTW, Law noted that Stanek fell because of a poor final season and was removed from the rotation late in the yr by the Arkansas coach
  25. Its all semantics right now anyway. The kid has a gigantic ceiling.
