    Mo Vaughnitis. I really like Ortiz, but in my opinion he isn't going to be a player that we can depend on over the remaining years in his contract.

    I can be somewhat satisfied with Ellsbury's production as a rookie. I can't be satisfied with his production as the leadoff hitter and therefore the catalyst of the lineup, which is the role he is slated for. They are tough shoes to fill but it is what is expected of him, and unless we get him hitting well we aren't going deep in the playoffs. Last night's lineup was one of the most ridiculous I've seen with JD Drew hitting leadoff.

    Yeah that was Rick Reilly, a guy who while sometimes corny and annoying, is a very good writer. He's not usually the "calling you out" type but he's also not one to pull punches. In my opinion it was pretty damn accurate.

    ...and he's been pitching in a division whose pitchers people constantly have a hard on for despite facing lineups softer than mommys teat.

    I hate to be the blasphemous one but... Ortiz ain't getting any younger, and in my opinion he is falling off. Further, he no longer has Manny protecting him and upping his quality at bats. Which leads me to believe that the PR nightmare of rotating the DH around Teixeira, Youk, and Lowell until Lowell's contract is up might also be an alternative, with Ortiz going elsewhere...

    I have a hard time believing that the dodgers will pony up 18 million per year for Manny when they wouldn't even pay a portion of the 7 to take him for the rest of the year. Who do they have coming off the books?

    I think he should take a couple days off, then spend about 2-3 weeks in the minors getting back to his previous form. He's pressing big time, and I think ever since that wrist injury his swing mechanics have been off.
