  1. Ellsbury needs three weeks out of the lineup to work on mechanics to get back what he lost when he hurt his wrist playing defense. Manny is only hurting himself by portraying himself this way. There was another potential (at the time) future hall of famer who played here and paved his own way out of town only a few years ago. The story didn't end so well for him, and the nostalgia faded very quickly.....
  2. Brett Favre needs to to be sent to a deserted island with John Madden and Chris Berman. They obsess over him so much it'd turn into a scene from deliverance.
  3. Manny's situation is one of those "riddle wrapped in an enigma" type situations. How do you deal with him? How do you possibly keep him with all the s*** he pulls? How do you get rid of such an important lineup spot? How can you trade him for less than value when you can keep his production and get picks at the end of the year? How do you justify keeping him when he seems to give up on the team? There really is no right answer to any of these questions, but plenty of wrong answers. I don't see him going anywhere, personally.
  4. They didn't overpay, which N.O. did. Hollinger has a decent article out there on it. That said, his contributions as a player and teammate, particularly in the postseason shall be missed. The Celtics now need to find someone new to hug each player before the game.
  5. Anybody ever see that movie where the kid manages the twins- "little big league"? When the bench coach tells him you know a guy is washed up when you are excited that he had a 2fer day? And then the kid has to fire his favorite player? ...Tek brought his average to .220
  6. Saw this coming weeks ago. Our bullpen needs the help. Good move.
  7. Why don't we just not have a catcher? Our starters can throw at the umpire's nuts all game and Manny can stand 5 feet away and throw the ball back after it bounces off the ump. It might help widen the strikezone called for our pitchers, too. Two birds with one stone.
  8. I believe that you will in fact see masterson in the pen ASAP. Olney appropriately commented that Bucholz was probably starting in the minors the same day as Masterson's majors start for a reason.
  9. I played the Angels that night. I was pissed.
  10. Anybody got a lineup for these guys today?
  11. http://www.nypost.com/seven/06252008/sports/mets/hank__willie_welcome_with_us_117135.htm Steinbrenner said he didn't want to comment on the manner in which Randolph was fired because he's not "one of those talk-radio types" who spews on subjects he knows little about. Really? Seriously?
  12. I know athletes can and do get hurt doing the simplest of things. With that said.... If you can't run a modified circle 370 feet without getting hurt, you and everyone speaking on your behalf should just shut the f*** up.
  13. It was extremely competitive, but in my opinion it wasn't very intense. These guys didn't shoot the same score on a single hole more than 3? times and were smiling and laughing it up. See: Bob May for intense golf in a major.
  14. Glad to see I'm not the only one chalking this one up to management.
  15. Chris Wallace? Is that Mike's brother?
  16. As my brother said, if JD Drew hits like he did last postseason in every postseason for the sox, he can do whatever the hell he wants for the rest of the year.
  17. Turnovers and really stupid fouls. That drive on rip with the floater through the lane should have been called offense
  18. Throughout his career Lemieux was noted for playing his best games during the postseason. On three occasions he scored more goals during the playoffs than he did during the regular season (1985–86 with Montreal, 1994–95 with New Jersey, and 1995–96 with Colorado). Lemieux retired with 80 career playoff goals, eighth all-time in the NHL.
  19. enough said right there buddy.
  20. Obviously they had someone to put in his place since he sat for the entire 4th quarter, correct?
  21. Doc actually coached a decent game. House played a lot, Cassell sat his ass on the bench I would say "all the right strings" might be a SLIGHT mischaracterization though since Ray Allen played 30 minutes despite having been about as useful as balls without a cock since the playoffs started.
  22. That was the loudest sporting event that I have ever been to.
  23. Sean- I know we ar ethe best team in the league, but if you look across the board, the favored teams were blowing out their oppostion at home and losing on the Road. New Orleans and LA come to mind. It isn't leadership and experience so much as it is officiating. The NBA wants these series to last.
