  1. How did ERod's stuff look. I didn't see the game, but I was surprised that he had only 2 k 's in his stat-line. Did he get many swings and misses?
  2. I was wondering where you were in this thread. Good points.
  3. Game one in the bag. Eff You Yankees!
  4. We beat them in that category -- 3 last place finishes in 4 years. Eff you Yankees!
  5. I will be at Fenway on Wednesday to see Pomeranz's first Red Sox start. I am looking forward to it. It will beat seeing one of the battalion of bastards.
  6. And the 2007 staff was Trade, Trade, FA, FA, FA. 0% homegrown.
  7. I would have used Ziegler for 2 innings if he was not going to close tonight. Why was Taz placed on the DL?
  8. He has made some very timely trades to address the needs of the team. Aaron Hill, Brad Ziegler and Drew Pomeranz is a good body of work mid-season.
  9. If I am a Padres fan, I am saying wait, we just gave up a 27 year old pitcher who made his first All Star team for a kid in A Ball with a 4+ ERA? WTH! But the naysayers of this trade are in good company with our resident Yankee Fan.
  10. Maybe the Red Sox have done an unusually masterful job of pumping and dumping a prospect before he got exposed.
  11. Red Sox -- Yankee baseball. Good way to start the second half.
  12. Did Pedro ever struggle like that?
  13. Excellent point. The Red Sox have not been some pitching factory turning out top starters regularly. Until they start producing quality starters more often than once every 10 years, any high ceiling prospect is suspect to me.
  14. I have been to 6 or 7 games so far this season and I have seen Buch twice and Sean O'Sulllivan once. Ugh. It reminded me of Mike Torrez Half Price Nights!
  15. we weren't going to get Jose Fernandez for one Single A player even if his name was Jesus Christ. Pomeranz is 27, cheap, and he maybe achieving his major league peak potential. What did people expect to get for this kid? LOL. It's not like he wasted this chip on a 36 year old injury risk like Hill.
  16. I live in NY and hear this from Yankee fans all the time. We make lot of excuses for losing when we lose rather than just admitting that we fielded a horseshit team. We whine about not being able to compete with Yankee $, and now we complain about selling a future that is 4-5 years away in order to get a sought after starting pitcher who is on 27 years old. Oye, what a bunch. If ERod spits the bit in his next 2 starts, I think that he will make a move to get Hill. It's a great day for my Sox. We came to terms with the next Espinoza, perhaps with higher upside. We also kept Momcada and Benintendi.
  17. We haven't traded a 35 HR All Star guy for him or given him $82.5 million.
  18. And several inches as well.
  19. We have bet on lots of young talent that have made it to the majors and thrived, and we are betting on other young guys to make an impact. They are not all going to make it. maybe espinoza will make it, but not for 4 years. That is a long time for the core to for a chance to win.
  20. I don't know why people want position players stacked up in the minors stuck behind our young major leaguers when they can be used to get us needed pitching. Keeping our prospects will not get us pitching.
  21. Casey Kelly was our best prospect since Clemens.
  22. Branch Rickey's statement to Ralph Kiner would apply to Ben: "We finished last with you (Ben). We can finish last without you (Ben)."
  23. i guess that they prefer to lose and whine excuses about it. Beckett pitched like a God in 2007, and won us a World Series and people bitched and moaned like we had given away Rogers Hornsby.
