  1. I am not sure that it was the intent to criticize any particular hitter's ABs last night, but rather a strategy on how to approach a pitcher. I don't know if there are strategy meetings on things like this. Does the coaching staff meet with the team and tell them that they should run up a pitch count on a pitcher or that they need to be aggressive and try to get a pitcher early?
  2. I thought that Nolan Ryan popularized the use of pickle juice to prevent blisters.
  3. Several of us expected that DD would pick up another starter in the off season, and thought that not doing so was a mistake. That was foresight not hindsight, and we ended up being right.
  4. Rusney Castillo is OPSing at a clip of .591 in Pawtucket. That's $72 million in the toilet. That is $2 million more than was offered to Lester as an extension. Allen Craig has all of 18 ABs this season in AAA --another $26 million flushed.
  5. Yep, and lets hope that they got it right with regard to Espinoza.
  6. The Lester thing was a colossal f*** up. I think the feeling on that is unanimous. Thank you, Ben.
  7. Hanley sucks at throwing plays at first base.
  8. We picked up 3 games on them right before the ASB.
  9. Thus far, he has not been a great post season pitcher. I will worry about that if and when we get there. I am just happy that it is past the middle of July and we are over .500 and competitive. This is a huge improvement from the last 2 seasons.
  10. It wasn't an awful outing for not being at his best, but I would say a prayer of thanks had Buch had this as his good outings.
  11. He was an inch away from getting out of the inning on the ball that hit off Pedroia's glove.
  12. I am not worried. He gave us a chance to win. He wasn't in top form, but there was nothing there tonight to make anyone jump off a ledge.
  13. Sometimes pitchers struggle against certain teams. In this case, he may have struggled because he couldn't put away the batters on strikes. I am not going to open a vein over an outing of 5 2/3 inn and 3 runs. We won the series, and going in, I did not expect a sweep
  14. He was untouchable on the trade market under Ben.
  15. Price gave up 3 runs in 5 2/3 innings. It's time to open a vein. The only concern that I have about his outing is that he had only one k.
  16. He has a long way to go to be in a class with Curt Schilling or Josh Beckett. That is for sure
  17. Just missed it. Gerardi is going to his BP horses next inning. Getting 2 runs will be tough.
  18. Leon has not yet turned into a pumpkin. Maybe he has found something that will last.
  19. Nice catch by Holt. That saved a double, maybe a triple.
  20. Is this your way of saying that you were suffering from low blood sugar a few days ago?
  21. The price was high and we are short on pitching. Standing pat was not really an option, because the same shortage of pitching would need to be addressed in the offseason. As UN said, DD was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. I would add that he was in a "you can pay me now or pay me later" situation.
