1. Arrieta is turning back into the pumpkin that he was in Baltimore.
2. Brentz continues to be useful and Hill is paying dividends
3. I get that, but I am not getting why the acquisition of Hill would make it more likely that we get pitching. What am I missing?
4. I am hoping that you are right about this, but I am not connecting the dots about how this move makes it more likely that we will obtain pitching.
5. I don't know what to make of this move,
6. The Rangers had three terrible errors in the last inning.
7. My "slow learner" comments about Farrell was neither meant to blame Farrell for the loss or to absolve Kimbrel. If you are going to quote people, get the meaning right. If you aren't clear about the meaning ask. Farrell wasn't to blame for the loss imo, and neither was Kimbrel even though he pitched like crap. The comment about Farrell's slow learning is just general commentary about Farrell's abilities and probably explains why Farrell's teams run the bases like they are blindfolded.
8. Farrell is a slow learner.
9. Beltre should have gone to second base with that. Orti is not moving well.
10. We always lose games worked by Eck.
11. Kimbrel blows up the game. Are you kidding me?
12. 8 innings and 3 runs against the Rangers. That is a good sign. I can't throw stones at the offense after the bombardment last night. Most nights this start from Price would be good enough to produce a win.
13. What was Shaw doing there?

Price

Probable Pitchers

Time: 07:10 P.M. EST Venue: Fenway Park BOSTON -- David Price and his manager had a disagreement after Price's last start. The left-hander, who basically makes $1 million per start in the first year of his $217 contract, criticized himself for his stuff after allowing four runs and nine hits at Tampa Bay -- his record falling to 8-5 and his ERA rising to 4.74. "Changeup, that's probably the worst changeup I've had in probably a month," Price said. "Curveball was awful. Can't get my cutter or my slider where I want to. I'm just bad right now." Meanwhile, manager John Farrell thought the stuff was good. Very good. "On a day when I thought overall he probably had his best stuff of the season in terms of velocity and in terms of the shape of his secondary pitches, they bunched a couple of hits together, particularly the third inning for the three runs," Farrell said after the game. Price gets another chance to be good when he faces the Texas Rangers in the second game of a three-game series at Fenway Park on Tuesday night. Before losing at Tampa Bay, Price gave up 12 hits and six runs in just 2 1-3 innings in a no-decision at Texas, adding to his career struggles in Arlington. Lifetime against the Rangers, he is 3-4 with a 5.78 ERA in the regular season, 1-3 with a 5.52 ERA in the playoffs. In the regular season, Elvis Andrus is 12-for-27 (.444), Shin-Soo Choo 8-for-21 (.381) and Adrian Beltre 11-for-35 (.314) against Price, while Prince Fielder is just 2-for-14. Right-hander A.J. Griffin (3-0) pitches for the Rangers, and faces the task of slowing down a Boston offense that has recorded 22 runs on 37 hits in the last two games -- and 61 hits in four games on its current homestand. The Red Sox hammered the Rangers 12-5 on Monday. Griffin, he of the 66-67 mph effective breaking ball, is coming off a strong no-decision against the Yankees in New York, where he pitched six innings and allowed a run on two hits. He is 3-0 with a 2.93 ERA for the season (24-11 in his career) and is making his ninth start of the season, his third since coming off the disabled list. He has held opponents to a .192 average, .200 with runners in scoring position -- and is 2-1 with a 3.68 ERA lifetime against Boston. Griffin missed the last two seasons after undergoing Tommy John surgery in April, 2014. The former Oakland prospect won 14 games for the Athletics in 2013 -- signing as a minor league free agent with the Rangers over this past winter. An injury shortened outing at Detroit on May 7 ended a streak of 33 straight starts with at least five innings by Griffin -- tied for the third-longest streak in the majors at the time. The Rangers are 6-2 in his eight starts this season and he is 12-7 lifetime on the road. His job Tuesday night is simple -- pitch better than Nick Martinez did on Monday. "Look, 13 extra-base hits today that our pitchers gave up, very challenging day. We got to be better than that," manager Jeff Banister said after Monday's loss. Copyright 2016 by STATS LLC. 15. You are right. A winning streak now because the offense gets white hot, could mask the underlying fatal flaw of this team. If the offense gets hot and takes the pressure off DD momentarily, hopefully he still gets us some pitching reinforcements.
16. We are in second place right now. That is a big step up from the basement last year. We have hit a lull that has dropped us behind the Orioles which has coincided from Pedroia slumping. When Pedroia gets hot, this offense gets supercharged. If he is starting a hot streak, the offense will be on high octane. That has always been the case when Pedroia is in a hot streak.
17. Except when it comes to David Price.
18. His health is a key for this team. He had the hand problems which look to be behind him. Last year his hammy set him back. He has made an effort to get his legs in better condition and his hands and wrist are fully recovered. When he is healthy and producing offensively, this team goes on a big roll. As Pedroia goes, so go the Sox. The guy has had a pretty good career for the Sox. He has been very dependable. Everyone gets injured from time to time. Ortiz has had his injury issues and he doesn't play D. When he hurt his wrist, his performance suffered and people wanted to send him to the glue factory. Then he hurt his heel and missed time. When Ortiz or Pedey are out of commission, this team struggles. When they are healthy, this offense produces. They are the barometer for the Red Sox. They are both healthy now (even though Ortiz's heels need to be managed) so that is a good sign for our offense. BTW, the thing about Ortiz's heel problems is that it becomes a bigger problem as he is more successful. The more that he is on base it becomes a bigger problem.
19. All the negative Pedroia talk is perplexing. Over the last several seasons there has been one reliable barometer for performance by the Red Sox. When Pedey is hitting, this team scores a lot of runs.
