Wash up? The man has won 6 GGs, has a career .356 OBP and a career .263 BA, with the 6 GGs. He's still good in a platoon position and could really teach Youk to learn the position.

If we trade Clement and Arroyo, that leaves us one short of a 5 man pitching rotation, so we trade Wells for Chris Young(our 5th starter) and Clay Hensley(great young bp guy).

If we can get Chris Young from the Pads, that puts us in pretty good conditon to trade both Arroyo and Clement, (since now we'll have a future rotation of Beckett, Paps, Lester, Young), and with starting pitching slim in this years market, I'm sure we'll get what need, hopefully a very good SS, 1b(if we trade youk, which I'm not in favor of), and CF.

No team needs bonafide superstars on their team to win, look at the White Sox, who was a superstar on their team, don't say Konkero either because he wasn't a superstar. Another team that comes to mind is the As, they don't have much superstar power except for Chavez and Zito and they still win. And nothing matters on paper, what matters is what actually happens. I think the BoSox are in great position for this year and years to come. We have great 1 year gappers for Pedrioa and Marte(Lowell and Loretta), and are locked in with young pitching with Paps and Lester, with another great young pitcher in Josh Beckett. The 2006 Red Sox will be great and every Red Sox team for a while will be great after that.

We don't need him to hit HRs, and it was 4 in Safeco which would prolly be about 7-8 anywhere else. It was also his first full seaon, so by the time he's mature he'll prolly hit about 10-15 HRs a season. Maybe more.

With this crazy off-season for the BoSox I think we should open up this thread again. Here is my 2006 Red Sox; 1. Trade Clement to Seattle for Jeremy Reed. Vouch to pay 2-3 million dollars a year of his contract to get it done. 2. Trade Arroyo to the Guardians for Coco Crisp. 3. Sign J.T. Snow to platoon with Youk at first. The man has won 4 GGs, so he could teach Youk a thing or two. Go after him aggressively. 4. Trade Nixon to a team for farm talent. 5. Trade Wells to SD for Chris Young and Clay Hensley. Maybe add those prospects to get it done. 6. Sign either Tony G or Alex G to play SS. It doesn't matter to me, whichever one is cheaper. Again, go after hard. This is another reason again why Bud Selig should be fired as the commissoner of baseball. He stands around and let the Yankees buy their way through baseball. I don't know what this is except a very messy comparison between the Sox/Yanks lineup, but another reason I just thought of to trade Clement instead of Arroyo would be to boost Arroyo's trade value. If we can rid ourselves of Clement's salary and Arroyo is doing great and Lester is ready to come up, we can get alot more than what we would get now for Arroyo.

I know the Ms are very interested in Arroyo, but I'd offer them Clement and vouch to pay some of his salary, maybe 1-2 million a year for the two years. I think Arroyo is a very promising 5 starter as well.
