  1. Something you know about i guess, Canadians don't drink urine but i always thought yankee fans tossed salads and drank urine, thanks for clearing that up, idiot
  2. Hahaha, I guess for a guy from Texas, Canada does seem like the North Pole but I'm from Canada and it's the beer that keeps me here. Being a Bosox fan in Canada, all you get is hockey news and Jays news, the last I've heard of the Wells story is that the chances of him re-signing are slim because he wants to play with his bum buddy Michael Young. Expect both to sign in Texas next year and kiss passionatly at the press conference
  3. Wells was interviewed during the Raptor game last night about the offer and he was humming and hahing about it. Doesn't sound like anything will get him to stay in Toronto and he even hinted at Texas when interviewed
  4. I agree, I'm pretty sure he wants to play somewhere in Texas as he has been hinting for a while up here. He'll get more than that on the market next year especially if the trend of ridiculous contracts keeps up.
  5. The BJ's have offered Vernon Wells a 7 year $126 million extension today. If he signs it, it'll be the 6th largest contract ever signed. Thoughts? http://tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=188250&hubname=
  6. Crede and Garcia for Figgins and Santana. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angels28nov28,1,5477741.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-mlb-angels Not official but apparently close to being done. Thoughts???
  7. Wells will either a) Sign a nice fat contract extention and parade centerfield for the BJ's for the half decade or so or Be traded to the Rangers (His home) like his wife wants to play with his best friend Micheal Young. These 2 came up together in the Blue Jay farm system and became very close, barring an ill advised Esteban Loaiza for Prospects (Micheal Young) trade made by the Jays in the past, Young would be the everyday SS for the Jays and everyone would be happy. Scenario B is the more likely of the 2
  8. Sox Jays Yankees Rays O's i think the sox and jays will battle it out right until the last week of the year with the sox prevailing. The yankees pitching staff will suffer too many injuries and the offense won't be able to keep up all year, and Randy Johnson and Gary Sheffield will be served with lengthy suspensions for a steroid induced senseless beating of a New York cameraman after which Sheffield will blame the whole incident on Bonds.
  9. Go to games, buy merchandise, cheer for them on tv that makes me a fan and i think the sold out crowds prove to the FO that they have a few loyal followers, forget the petition.
  10. Hey all, I've posted a hand full of times but never took the time to introduce myself properly. I'm Brent from Winnipeg, Canada. Loved the Sox for years, and yes even throughout the Blue Jays bought World series years(though i wasnt peoples favorite guy around here). Great to be on here and looking forward to some great discussions!!!! BB
  11. Giving up Marte for Crisp does seem like a lot based on Marte's potential, but remember how much "potential" guys like Rick Ankiel and Todd Van Poppel had? They pegged Van Poppel the next Nolan Ryan which didn't quite pan out. I think getting Crisp going into his peak years and with his stats gradualy getting better as each year passes is a good thing. Sure Marte could be the next Scott Rolen or he could be the next Eric Hinske, and he had all the "potential" after his rookie of the year award and now i wouldn't give that guy a bag of oranges a year to play for my team. Crisps hitting will only get better in Fenway and he is a more than capable CF. I'll go out on a limb and say that Crisp has a better year than Damon this year and he will be a staple in the Sox outfield for years and become a star in Boston. If you go by Marte's play last year in AAA and in winterball this year, he has a lot of catching up to do.
  12. Is Gonzalez anymore of an upgrade over Cora? Neither are great hitters and I think Cora may be a little better defensively and cheaper. $5 mill a year for a double play ball waiting to happen isn't worth it, why sign Gonzalez when you have Cora or even Pedroia. I like the addition of Crisp to the outfield!!! Young, talented, quick and cheap are all good things and he could be a replacement for Trot if he leaves next year.
  13. The thought of a 3,4,5 lineup like that does sound soooo good but not good enough to give away any blue chip prospects to accomplish it. We have a solid future ahead of us with Lester, Paps and Marte, those 3 are untouchable. If Baltimore wants to deal Tejada for something other than those guys along with Clement, then obviously you have to jump.
  14. I'm starting to get tired of Manny being Manny. I think Manny should act like a man and not a baby
  15. The Boston Herald reports that Baltimore is asking for Marte in addition to Manny and Clement and that talks have stalled because of it. It also states that Manny's request for his options to be picked up hasn't been the problem when in fact talks haven't really progressed all that much. Manny, Clement and cash for Tejada and Matos is more than enough IMO, when they start asking for Marte, Papelbon or Lester is when you hang up the phone with the Orioles and pick up the phone and call Manny and try, in some way, to work it out. Unless another team comes with an offer that blows the FO away, i think that Manny will stay put and the FO will concentrate more on acquiring Reed. Cora will make due at SS until the help from the farm is ready.
