  1. So I'm guessing he's MLB ready?
  2. Ummmm, David Wells wants a trade so you might as well get something out of that, and with our abundance of starting pitching we might have to trade Clement for a CF, which is the position Jeremy Reed plays.
  3. Yeah I like Prior, Patterson, and Cendo(anyone have his minor and major leagues stats? Thanks) We would have a very good young team and save a whole bunch of money. Prior is still only making 360K and we could nail him for the long term, Patterson has the talent and Papa Jack could really help him with that. I'd also like to sign or trade for a big bat. Maybe if we get prior we could somehow spin Arroyo and Clement to Seattle for Richie.
  4. Alexander I'd quit this arguement while I was still ahead. And since you've been talking about the Brewers and their great farm system, I'll give you my two cents on it. The Brewers have great prospects coming up, but being the small market team, as soon as they're eligable for FA, they won't be able to keep them all. Big-Market teams will offer them huge contracts and the smaller teams can't match those, and then its back to rebuilding again. This is the same thing the As do. They trade all their star players away 1 year before they get their huge contracts for MLB ready cheap prospects. The same thing will happen to the Royals, remember a guy by the name of Carlos Beltran? He played for the Royals and was trade for cheap, prospects, only they weren't MLB ready, as shown by their 105 season loss. Small markey teams can only keep talent so long before a big market team offers a huge contract. If their was a salary cap, then that wouldn't happen and it would keep the game productive.
  5. I like that somewhat, but I'm wondering about the salaries, would we have to give some money to the braves? I also think we should get more than Jones and Johnson for a future HOF and a very good closer(he's only had 1 bad year). I think Wilson Benemit or Blaine Boyler should also be included. Maybe both.
  6. I'm talking about the majority here, not a full 100%.
  7. I like Prior, but thats just a start, we need much more than him. Derek Lee anyone? Jk
  8. Alright then, ask your Yankee fans in NY about a salary cap and then go to Kananas City, Tampa Bay, or any other small-market area and ask them about a salary cap. Oh yeah, I'm sure it will be the same across the nation.
  9. Can you get me a icon of The Rock raising his eyebrow like he does, or is that considered a wrestler? JW
  10. Whats really funny here is that all the people that are against the salary cap are Yankee fans.(with the exception of castigs850 or w/e) Are you against the cap because you know if there was one in baseball you wouldn't be able to bribe all the superstars to come play for you? Are you scared that you might actually have to develop talent, rather than buying it? Are you scared that you might have to draft well and have great farm systems? Are you scared that (God forbidng!) you might actually have to rebuild one year instead of getting all the players that are having great seasons for crappy teams? I think Yankee fans don't want a cap for these reasons. They might actually have to play baseball the right way, instead of buying their way through.
  11. I like your trade, but not one of the people in it, Jose Lopez has a .956 FP at SS, so in your trade I'd replace him with Julio Mateo. Another interesting trade that I thought of would be to trade Trot Nixon to the Nats for Jose Vidro and Ryan Church. He's a great hitter (career .302 average) and a above average fielder (career .983 FP). We could have him play 2b, and Loretta at SS and have Church play RF. Just a thought though.
  12. No no no, Richie Sexson is a much better option than him. Hopefully we could get him in some Manny trade to Seattle.
  13. Amen, when's the last time the Pirates did any good? Or the Royals? What about the Brewers? What's their payroll? 40 million? 50 million? If it was 50 million, then the 3 top salaries on the Yankees are 13 million more than that. 3 players for 65 million dollars as compared to 25(at the least) making 50 million. With Mike Sweeny out of the picture, the Royals have 24 players making 25 million dollars. Something isn't right there. The bottom line is that there should be a salary cap in Major League Baseball to control the domination of the teams and because there is not is another reason Bud Selig should be fired as MLB commisioner.
  14. Same, I love the idea of a blockbuster trade with Seattle(I don't love it because Manny would be in it, but I'd do it since he's "unhappy.") It would be; Seattle Gets: Manny R. Matt Clement Bronson Arroyo Boston Gets: Richie Sexson-1b Raul Ibanez-LF Jeremy Reed-CF Julio Mateo-RP
  15. Yeah, I'm in agreement(if he agree, I think he did) with Riverside Sluggers about killing two birds with one stone by letting Loretta play SS and having Tony G resigned to play 2b. Then I think we should move Perioda back to SS.
  16. I wanted him on the Sox if Manny left. He's a beast.
  17. I can live with those guys because their OBP is usally anywhere from .370-.390 with 40 HRs and 100+ RBIs and is long is they're giving me that kind of production I can take them striking out 130 times a year.
  18. Except the Astros didn't have enough of an offense.
  19. I'm going to give Mark Prior the benefit of the doubt here, most of his injuries are freak injuries. Think about that one game against the Rockies where he had that ball hit off his arm, how many times is that actually going to happen? Plus in this trade, I'd rather take out Prior and Patterson and replace them with the Z.
  20. hahaha, and where are we going to get all this money from, Roger will want at the least 17 million and Millwood wants 11-12 million a year. If we trade Manny, I'm definately in favor of Roger because Beckett idolizies him, so maybe it can help is injury-prone career.
  21. Maybe there will be some blockbuster trade between us and Seattle; Red Sox: Richie Sexson Raul Ibanez Seattle: Manny Or if you want to be creative, then we can throw in either Arroyo or Clement for Reed, but with this trade it would make Youk more tradeable. Maybe instead of Reed we could get Torri Hunter, I dunno, I like Reed alot though
  22. Its just for fun.
  23. Nuff' said. hahahaha
  24. I like Reed alot and would be a happy camper if the Red Sox traded Clement and some of his salary for him.
  25. No no I definately don't agree with the NFL salary cap system, cut a guy a there goes his salary, I believe you must pay the player whatever amount of money you sign him for, and I believe there should be a salary cap in MLB to prevent teams like the Yankees to keep from monoplozing the sport. I say this because the Yankees have commited 122 million dollars to 3 players; Damon, Farnsworth, Matsui and the Red Sox payroll has decreased from 121 million to 97 million. Teams shouldn't be able to buy all the great players. Having a payroll would help players choose their loyalty and really separate the GMs and Managers from the ones that win because of their team and the ones that win because they are great managers and GMs.
