  1. Youk robbed Tavarez any chance you can drill a pitch at the home plate umpire? I dont know as much as you do about the strike zone, but anyone could see the "strike 3" pitch went down to the ground followed by bengie obviously bringing the glove back up like what 10 inches? EDIT: Tavarez has quite impressed me in his outings as a starter. He's not one to ring up K's but a pitcher who loves to have that gold glove defense behind him (15 groundball outs tonight).
  2. yea they just have to win the last 9 games of the season to make the postseason... while trying to leap frog the angels, white sox, and powerhouse twins
  3. No, as ORS said, just throwing that out there to start another yankee fan vs Sox fan thread. This is along the lines of trolling regardless of how you think
  4. Lowell at 3rd instead of billy mueller? You do realize that Lowell is in fact an offensive upgrade over Mueller right? Mueller has been on the DL for about the whole season and is just about ready for retirememnt with his balky knees I guess Pedroia coming off of a 5 game hitting streak, 8 for his last 26 (.307 avg) doesnt work for anyone, managers cringe at those stats
  5. Beckett continues to end the season at the top of his game since his wretched 9 walk outing against NY last month. Quite dramatically the HR ball hasnt been seen much lately in his games as opposed to the 1st half 3-2 record (6 starts) 40 innings, 32 Hits, 12 Runs, 2 HRs, 14 Walks, 22 Ks Any idea what his nice ERA could be in that span? Beckett now sits at 198 innings pitched . He looks to leap the 200 inning barrier against Tampa Bay in his career high 33rd start of the season, and perhaps win #17?
  6. And before last night... .276 avg in September 5 game hitting streak (6 for 12) 8 for his last 21 (.421 avg) 2 Doubles, HR, 3 RBIs, 3 Runs, 3 Walks Just wondering, you were against the Sox FO trading away Andy Marte, right?
  7. He has a 2.45 ERA since the All-Star Break, including 8.1 scoreless innings in September. Its beyond me why Timlin is the closer in Papelbon's absence, even though Timlin seems to be having a mini-rebound. If Foulke continues his recent success, maybe in the best interest to give Foulke a second chance. The free agent closer's market is pretty much bare

  9. Wakefield has really been his regular self (besides going on DL, just 2nd time of his career) Innings eater, owns the only complete game by a Sox pitcher this year 4.50 ERA which is average for him making a solid 4th or 5th starter Im guessing next season will be his last in the majors. A move to the bullpen in middle relief is possible.
  10. Bard shouldnt even be considered a "top prospect" that was traded away needlessly by the Red Sox -- before this season, he played 3 years in the big leagues with the Guardians. Known during that time as a weak hitting catcher who's best served as a backup. No one & I repeat no one could have predicted the offensive outburst he has had with San Diego. -- 10 passed balls in the month of April (most coming with runners on 3rd) got Sox execs flustered of the thought of this happening season long for Wakefield. At the time, getting Belli back was the better option Ok back with a f***ing EDIT here... yes lets deal Papi, one of the most ridiculous Sox fan trade proposals I have heard yet. IMO there will be riots in the streets of Boston if the Sox FO trades him away.
  11. Nothing thats why I put this under it I dont like doing double posts
  12. It seems now there is rumblings of the Angels wanting in on Alex Rodriguez this offseason (ah that offseason trade rumor mill is coming back) http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_4371626 --------------------------
  13. Just thought Id start this up again, chat about offseason moves for teams other than our Sox A good stop-gap closer has been taken off the list, but it seemed obvious he would be resigned.
  14. Ho-hum another good game for Dusty, he continues to get better I see --2 for 3 tonight with a 2 out RBI (if not for Bartlett's good play, he would have himself 3 Hits/2 RBIs both coming with 2 outs) --5 game hitting streak --8 for his last 21 (.421 avg) 2 Doubles, HR, 3 RBIs, 3 Runs, 3 Walks
  15. You are right-- Colvin, Bruschi, Vrabel, Seymour, Warren, re-emergence of Seau. What pushovers those hacks are as the D-Line, who are they kidding? And in the secondary is the return of Rodney Harrison, keep drinking that kool-aid if you actually believe this defense will be sub-par
  16. Im out of the house-- errands, spending time with girlfriend before Im off to another night of work starting at 5 to whenever. I like the matchup of Wakefield vs Garza. 2006 has been a season of opposities, Sox bats have actually fared well against rookies this year than previous seasons.
  17. Rare times Im rooting for Yankee wins The AL East is already theirs, so nothing to gain from seeing them lose NY beating Toronto keeps Boston from falling into 3rd place
  18. How long have you been watching him? Im guessing a month, which is not a good sample size on his stroke Ive been watching him since he was in Double A Portland. He is so far showing what happens each time he gets promotion --at first he is cold --he then starts to get going in a good streak, mostly as we see trying to get the big flies going (please all rookies are trying to hit HRs with every swing they pit down) --doesnt take long till he progresses into the hitter that shot up through the system Oh well, no use trying to argue anymore, cant seem to get though to the actual fact that a month in the majors doesnt classify how a player will be in his career.
  19. Its not touchiness, considering how I see you regard Wily Mo Pena... I wasnt out of base by assuming that you actualkly think that the kid cant hit the way he will once he adjusts to major league pitching. Just now he is putting together a nice streak Now throw in names like Ken Huckaby, Gabe Kapler, or Willie Harris, then I'll join in with you for a hearty laugh.
  20. Pedroia is 5 for his last 17 (.294 avg), and 3 of those hits have gone for extra bases. Yeah his clutch 2 out (game-tying) RBI double was a waste seeing, huh? Its not like this kid just started in the majors, oh wait he has Complaining about a rookie's stats in his debut is just plain laughable
