  1. Try Again End of June through All-Star Break/Trading Deadline... the beginning of the Sox swoon (ahem before Sox lost the lead) Varitek (Javy Lopez, Mirabelli & Huckaby handling the calling game while wielding their "hot bats") Clement (still a better starter than Jason Johnson) Wakefield (much missed starter who could give his team innings, and a decent 4+ ERA) Wells (didnt return until it was too late Manny (knee injury has taken a huge chunk of playing time, relegating to Youk hitting 3rd in the lineup in August) Trot (shouldnt be kept as a starter, but still had been team's best #5 hitter at time he went down)
  2. Its Matsuzaka About Schmidt, believe me he wont get even close to Zito type money (5+ years/70+ million). Expect Schmidt to get something like a contract comparable to AJ Burnett's. Zito is likely to go to one of 3 teams (Yankees, Mets, Cardinals) Id like to see Gil Meche added, only if Sox are unable to get anything going with Matsuzaka or Schmidt
  3. Give Foulke the save opportunites for the rest of the season Tito. I know this season wont be ending in late October, but I still watch to see this team pull out some wins
  4. He was only hitting sub-par in his brief call-up to Triple A for San Diego. Other than that, he has been rated as a good hitting catching prospect.
  5. Tom Brady Id say is better than Daunte Culpepper. Ask any sports analyst who you want to play for you in a big game, they wouldnt have to think about it: Tom Brady Daunte chokes when the games on the line

  7. I see brilliance in the Sox front office by making the Yankees up their offer. Even though Clement has been a hack for us, we have still gotten more out of him than the Yankees with Pavano who hasnt pitched since June 17, 05
  8. He's been dealing his past 4 starts (something like a 3.33 ERA), hopefully for RSN's sake its for real. At least he can kick the "he's never hit 200 innings before" excuse, 16 innings away with 3 expected starts to come
  9. They were prepping Adam Dunn to be the 1st baseman. With Wily Mo's departure, Adam Dunn was moved back to left field and they gave a shot to former Sox Scott Hatteberg.
  10. Gabbard has now thrown 11.2 scoreless innings. He did throw a good ammount of balls, but remember at same time he had to leave the game with the same tightness Schilling has had this past month. He's a keeper for the rest of year in the rotation. Look forward to see if he can land role as 5th starter, or at least we know we have a good spot starter down in Pawtucket.
  11. So Youkilis, Loretta, Trot, Varitek, Lowell, and Gonzo... hypothetically if they were hitting in front of Manny, they could have "Ortiz" numbers? Jeez he still cant get recognition outside of Boston that he is in fact a good hitter. Guess he'll have to prove it in the playoffs, no he'd one that before. Well its not like teams (including Yankees) are intentionally walking to him to get to Manny instead, no wait thats already being done
  12. Even before these comments, it was obvious Ortiz wasnt going to win the MVP, he was just letting his agressions out (his health, missing time, team spiraling downward due to barrage of injuries, being snubbed last year). Baseball (& Baseball writers) care jack s*** about DH's, especially Ortiz. He could have a monumental season of 60 HRs/175 RBIs, and he'd still just get a basket of mini-muffins at his locker because "he doesnt play defense".
  13. Sigh Again, Wily Mo was in line to be the starting left fielder this season for the Reds. They felt their biggest need was starting pitching, enter the Red Sox. Wily Mo is now in line to be the starting right fielder for 2007. Everyone knew coming into this season he would just be a platoon mate with Trot, hence who's in his contract year. He's not playing every day right now because of Tito's constant affection to the veteran players who arent pulling their weight (Millar, Kapler, Trot)
  14. I am excited about his offensive line, while not playing full time (coupled with extended stay on DL) 71 for 231 (.307 avg) 14 Doubles, 2 Triples, 11 Hrs, 41 RBIs, 31 Runs Given a full season, I wouldnt count a line of: 30 Doubles, 25-30 HRs, 90+ RBIs
  15. calm down now, no one on here was going that far. I just know he'll still be on the Sox for 2007, didnt print in black & white Im banking on him being here for 10 years
  16. um yeah in my playstation mlb 06: the show game, I would do that. Florida wouldnt be that dumb to trade Dontrelle for Hansen & Pena
  17. Does that include the season finale against Miami where he just stayed in for like a quarter then gave the ball to Matt Cassel so Belichick could rest the starters before the playoffs? I guess you're suggesting an early "Brett Favre" spiral downward slide then? 2 games is not even close to start saying such things. Are you even a follower of the Patriots? Thats Jets fan talk, more or less = hopeless
  18. Pena wont be dealt this offseason Just like I remember guaranteeing that he wouldnt be traded before this past trade deadline... I'll guarantee that he wont be traded before the 07 season starts Well of course Nixon's going to be playing somewhere else, so thats a moot point
  19. Im sorry that doesnt make any sense. Wily Mo is only the starting right fielder next season if both Manny & Coco stay? Providence Journal
  20. bump just yet another thread started by a yankee fan, knowing well that it will start up another useless red sox vs yankee fans back n forth debacle. Ortiz is just frustrated because his team isnt playing the way it should, the writers shunning him last year, and will be the same this year because he's just a DH utility man & the Sox are EB26, "his stats arent good enough to win MVP as a DH" Ok lets take out the fact that he's a Re Sox, then tell us what you really think. Pray tell what stats you expect a Red Sox DH to have to make MVP? He's becoming the best DH in the history of the game. Jeez youre acting like Ortiz is just an average joe 40 Hr guy. What a schmuck of a player, huh?
  21. They didnt have flashy top-notch receivers in 01 I can recall. Yeaaah in the divsion they are in (Miami might be behind them, but Daunte cant handle big games), easy schedule, future HOF QB in Brady, a better running game than last year's, better defense than last year's with return of Rodney Harrison, and future HOF coach Belichick... they will not make the playoffs
