  1. Web gem of a DP started by Pedroia's dive and shuffle to Loretta while on his stomach. Also good to see NESN show his stats over his last 10 games, 11 for 34 (.324 avg) 4 RBIs
  2. Well it seems the Sox have avoided having to open their season in Minnesota, we will now be looking forward to a season opener in... Kansas City. Hopefully the 07 Sox team plays the Royals like well the rest of baseball does
  3. Its all about Papi these last 3 games. Sox have to win at least 2 out of 3 to even tie for 2nd place. Trying to savor these games now, no Sox games for 6 months http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/050912/050912_ortiz_vmed_9p.widec.jpg
  4. yea I just got rid of this nagging migraine, but its come back quick after reading that post
  5. And how has Trot been handling every day in the lineup this season? Ooh I just salivate looking at his season stats as our #5 hitter for 07 It would have to be an incentive laden contract for him, knowing how a new injury might crop up with him nowadays.
  6. About him having less wins in the 2nd half compared to the 1st half.... is well due more to the fact of the Sox lineup being beat up the way it is. He has had his fair share of quality starts with nothing to show for them. So him losing those 2 games in August really would have increased chances of Sox making the playoffs? That I just dont agree with. The 06 Yankees & Twins are above & beyond what this current Sox team is, those 2 games being won would have made no difference except for a lead in 2nd place over the Blue Jays.
  7. With Wily Mo & Eric Hinske locked up for next season, coupled with Trot's power outage & health concerns all add up to Trot quite possibly wearing a different uni this spring. In previous posts I spoke with disdain just merely because of the fact that it is evident he cant hold down a starting job in Boston anymore. Course there will be teams with toned down cities who arent as hyped as fans are here, Ive heard rumblings about the Nationals or even the Cardinals if Juan Encarcion moves to center. If this falls in place, then this is a tribute thread to the dirt dog that is Trot Nixon. Top 7 memorable moments http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060928&content_id=1687706&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos I am currently setting out to make a tribute slideshow of Trot's tenure as a Red Sox. Anybody have song choices? My top pick right now would be the rock song "We Salute You". Maybe at the end put in the clip of Trot's sliding catch in the 04 ALCS?
  8. Beckett before this game had gone on a nice little hot streak for a month and was performing like an ace. He also has done something with his mechanics, as the HR hasnt hurt him as much as it did in 1st half. Beckett's 2nd Half stats (excluding outings vs Oakland @ Fenway, Cleveland, New York @ Fenway, & Tampa) 5-3, 3.13 ERA (12 starts) 72 innings, 57 Hits, 26 Runs (25 ER) 3 HRs, 24 Walks, 50 Ks
  9. yea sorry about that guys, I meant to clarify that. Of course best rookie wouldve gone hands down to Papelbon, so I decided to choose best rookie call-up (not seen with Sox before 2006--Dustin Pedroia, David Murphy, Craig Breslow, David Pauley, Kason Gabbard, Devern Hansack I added another vote in the first post
  10. 11. do those stats factor in walkoff hits & game tying or go-ahead RBIs (Ortiz leads again in that category)?
  12. http://www.boston.com/partners/worldnow/nesn.html?catID=80767&clipid=979962&autoStart=true&mute=false&continuous=true A lot of changes could be done in the coaching system, not just our Papa Jack. Also for listeners of WEEI Sox games, Jerry Trupiano & Joe Castiglione's contract is all set to not be renewed http://thetrack.bostonherald.com/moreTrack/view.bg?articleid=159425

  14. So yea I heard that the Falcons wide receivers have been approached to be spokesmen for Butterfingers
  15. Oswalts just signed a 5 years/$75 million extension a month ago. I think its safe to say that Oswalt is off the market, but I am expecting the Sox to acquire a a very good starting pitcher
  16. I see Sox edging out the Jays for 2nd place, barely. Only things working out for them over the next 5 games is strength of schedule, & Schilling/Beckett combo will make their last starts vs Tampa Bay.
  17. Solo HR vs Toronto to bring the Sox back within 3 in the 6th inning Solo HR vs Tampa Bay in 9th inning to make it a 1 run game 2 run HR vs Baltimore (yes the 11-1 win, but his shot put the Sox ahead for good in the 2 inning) Solo HR vs Cleveland put Sox ahead by 1 run in eventual game won by Papi Solo HR vs Cleveland put Sox ahead by 1 run in eventual game won by Loretta 2-Run HR vs Kansas City put Sox ahead in 4th, eventual KC walkoff win 3-Run HR vs Kansas City to put the Sox ahead in 7th inning, eventual KC walkoff win Solo HR vs NY in 9th inning to make it a 1 run game
  18. yea I made up my list, even though Im quite the stat geek. I dont make up stats just to win arguments http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6522/batvspit;_ylt=AqTj1XpE4ATqvKa2Hann1xyFCLcF?year=career&type=Batting
  19. 2 from Cliff Lee Roy Oswalt 3 from Greg Maddux Kelvim Escobar Chris Capuano 2 from Doug Davis Matt Morris
  20. He has had big HRs for the Sox this season that has either tied the game or put them ahead Just because pitchers are good against this lineup, doesnt mean theyre the same against everybody else
  21. Theo please just do the Sox organization a favor & DFA the hacks Abe Alvarez & Lenny DiNardo
  22. Hansen & Delcarmen... yea theyre gonna need more than 1 free agent relief pitcher acquisition this offseason to build confidence in the set up roles for 07. Hell I think Hansen should start the season in Triple A Good for Delcarmen he actually got an out this time. He only gave up 3 consecutive hits with runners on base to put the game out of hand, way to continue to end your season on a bad note.
  23. ok um they walk overbay to bengie so they can get a double play ball going Logic of throwing Molina curveballs up in the zone???`From what I know, you throw balls down in the zone to try and induce a DP
