This is truely looking like today will be the last game for Trot Nixon as a Red Sox. Time to think about what he did for the Sox in the past, not the present.

The starting price for Soriano is 5 years/$75 million, and it could go much forther than that. Second Base shouldnt be the team's top priority this offseason (contract that size would consume large portion that could be spent on teams biggest need... pitching). My money is on the Angels acquiring him to be their left fielder.
The Sox are liking what they see from Pedroia and are being patient. Not much rookies can bounce back from a rough start to the majors as he had. I see a kid who is showing flashes of being a great defender for the Sox infield. I see the kid stop c hoking up on his bat, looking for that tape measureHR to impress everyone (all call-ups try to do that). He has admitted to that and is now focusing on more line drive hits. I gather you dont have NESN and dont actually see the # of line drives he has hit that have been snared by web gems, including tonight where he hit this sharp liner that was snatched by Millar. I also see him making the pitcher work, doing whatever he can to try to get on base. Dusty will be the 2nd baseman of 2007
You think the Sox shouldve held onto Millar? Even now Im still glad they let him walk. Youkilis leading off wasnt a major force in the first half of the season?
Lowell & Nixon you just cant compare, nice try though. Nixon has been on the DL like 4 times since 2004, accompanied by 3 straight down seasons. Lowell has barely had a trip to the DL, and recently has had 1 count them 1 down season.
Whoah damn only time ever I rooted the Yanks to win the World Series was when they were America's team in October 2001, a month after the 9/11 attacks.
Other than that scenario, having the Yankees as the team you are going to root for in the playoffs is sacriligous if you're a die hard Sox fan.
An actual good call by Theo of letting this former Sox star go. Pedro ended his Sox career helping them win their first World Series in 86 years, thats how we would want to remember finishing his tenure with the Red Sox.
A win today coupled with Tornto loss to NY could give Boston sole posession of 2nd place, not much but its better than finishing in 3rd place. Today is set to be the return of Manny with 2 games left in the season, same token Ortiz is set to have the night off... Why I just dont know. Him playing these 2 last games arent really going to affect his vacation any.

Manny is expected to return to the lineup tomorrow. Regardless, Wakefield isnt likely to leave a "thank you" card at Tito's desk. Redsox.com is reporting that Youkilis will miss the final 2 games of the season with an abdominal strain. Ok so now its just Youkilis & Varitek missing from the lineup, right? Wrong. Ortiz will be given a rare night off tomorrow night.
A night off for what? Isnt this supposed to be a thank you wknd to the fans for supporting them? Wait till they see this expected lineup tomorrow night as theyre filing into their seats.

The 1st baseman free agent market this offseason isnt that much appealing if youd consider the Sox to go hard for Sean Casey this season (best available this offseason). Damn the Cubs for resigning Derrek Lee earlier this year, he's one of Theo's favorite players
Manny in September (9 appearances)
8 innings, 17 Hits, 10 Runs, 1 HR, 3 Walks, 6 Ks
This is coming off of respectable months of June through August, ERA's of 4.35, 3.52, 3.46
Yahoo! Sports Jeff Passan's picks for this year's gold gloves
SS- Michael Young (14 errors this season, Gonzo at 7)
3B- Joe Crede (10 Errors this season, Mr. Doubles at 6)
Alrighty
great strategy Tavarez
--intentional walk to Tejada to load the bases
--whatever reason paying too much attention to runner on 2nd base instead of batter, couldve gotten injured on that dumbass of a play
--walk Jay Gibbons on 4 pitches
--now first 2 pitches to Hernandez are balls
