  1. Ortiz trying to bunt, he should only do that when the big bat in Manny is on the on-deck circle. Even still, no reason for him to be bunting at all. Ortiz's Hr in the first inning tied the mlb record of 32 homeruns on the road. His counterpart is Babe Ruth
  2. Ortiz at the top of the first with 2 outs connected for his 53rd HR of the season, a solo shot. Chacin's control was bad the first inning as he had allowed 2 hits, 2 walks on 30 pitches. Loretta grounding into a rare double play avoided from what could have been a big 1st inning Ortiz is now at 230 career homeruns. The 2008 season seems set to have highlights of the countdowns to his 300th HR & 1000th RBI
  3. No doubt Cordero would be a great choice, but he does have 2007 as an option year. Id be surprised if the Brewers dont pick that up.
  4. The "beginning" stretch of Sox now just playing for pride & prevention from falling out of 2nd place. Although true they do have a better schedule after Toronto, facing Tampa Bay & Baltimore at home. Toronto goes on the road to face the White Sox & Yankees. Snyder should be in line to return next season as the team's long man & occasional spot starter. http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids/20060902/i/r654809878.jpg
  5. Last week playing mlb 06: the show (set to veteran), I was actually able to throw a no-hitter with Tim Wakefield facing the Marlins. Some games Ive played actually had me getting excited, this game was no exception. Adam Stern was in left (due to Manny getting hurt earlier), and in the last out of the game had him making a risky dive for a sinking line ball I sure was going to be a blooper of a hit. The most K's Ive gotten was by David Wells facing the Yankees, 14 in 7 innings. EDOT: Back onto subject of this thread, of course 27 Ks in 1 game
  6. Not enough people visiting the site today wasnt the problem. The main page showed over 30 posters went to this site at least once, the problem was with some posters too lazy to at least join in for fun
  7. With Twins currently leading Baltimore 6-5, the Sox are 3 outs away from mathematical elimination
  8. whats sad is fans counting out a kid who just started in the majors
  9. 1997, Loretta's 1st full season in majors, he had committed 15 errors. Loretta- veteran Pedroia- rookie
  10. wtf Its Manny pinch-hitting, well this is something unexpected
  11. Just something Pedroia can work on this fall & spring training Nice gem of a play by Hinske to get out of the inning
  12. ho-hum another multi-hit game for Dusty , 3rd time on base today, 11 for his last 32 now I believe?
  13. Yeah I have NESN Hansack has this Tavarez/toned down El Duque pitching motion when there is no one on base. He seems to hide the ball really well from opposing batters. His fastball at first was 84-87 (probably from nerves) since then its sprouted to the low 90's. He's hitting his spots on the outside corners, good control he's displaying. He's earning himself a promotion to Triple A, maybe a game or 2 this next spring training.
  14. Burnett has needed just 37 pitches through the first 3 innings
  15. Yooouk flashing left field leather, nice grab
  16. Dusty with a hell of a headoff HR, little guy has pop
  17. lets get today's game thread going please
  18. Coco Crisp would not be a 4th outfielder for the Sox. Name how many 4th outfielders still have contracts left of 3 years/$15.5 million. Its also highly unlikely Coco would warm to being a bench player. If Sox go after Andruw Jones, and Manny is still on the team, look for Coco to be moved
  19. Maybe thats why of the speculated reports that the Sox are again trying hard to acquire Andruw Jones. It could be a move not to replace Coco (who can play a better left than center), but rather to be a replacement bat for Manny if there ever can be one. :dunno:
  20. He's called a f***ing rookie, 22 years old. Sorry it just makes you squirm in your seat because you lack patience but that is what is needed with handling rookies. Not all have come firing out of the gate when they enter the majors
  21. Wakefield does own the other complete game, it was a loss to Seattle at Fenway
  22. god damn Tavarez!!! he really has turned his season around as a starter
  23. Cmon Tito what do you have got to lose? I want to see Julian out there for a complete game
