Devers trade update:

Devers in 485 PAs: 22 HRs 59 RBI

.231 BA and .758 OPS

Kyle Harrison: 3.04 ERA in just 27 IP since trade

James Tibbs: 9 HRs in 81 ABs in AAA, this year (1.116 OPS)

Jose Bello: doing okay in A-.

Hicks: part of trade for Durbin, Monasterio & Seigler

Money saved spent on: choose one: Suarez, Gray or Contreras

now do the Sale trade.

I liked the Sale trade, at the time, since Sale embodied everything we hate about waiting for injured pitchers to return to form.

Update:

Sale has started about 55 out of a possible 70 starts and was not healthy by the end of both seasons with ATL. His numbers are off-the-charts great, when he pitches.

29-9 2.49 w ATL with a Cy Young Award.

Grissom sucked and was traded for Isaiah Jackson.

Now, do the Teel and Verdugo trades.

Only 4 (former Sox/current DBacks GM Mike Hazen, Guardian’s President Chris Antonetti, Brewers’ GM Matt Arnold, Rays’ executive Peter Bendix) declined.

In the case of Bendix, he was interviewing for and eventually got the position of POBO with the Marlins…

Kim Ng (Marlins) turned down an interview as did the Phillies Sam Fuld.

Who are the other 4?

Pretty sure I said most of the other 10 declined an interview.  I remember Kapler was interviewed as was one internal option (Romero?).  Sox obviously decided no on those 2.

If the Sox happened to interview two guys before Brez and didnt want them, it doesnt bump Brez down to the 11th choice.

Kapler never had a FO job at that point. I think the Sox were being polite in even interviewing him.

To me, it's about how many guys were offered the job before Brez. That is his ranking- more or less.

I would rank it as how many guys were the Sox seriously interested in prior to going to Brez, but I don't really care either way. I will just say that if they don't give Breslow a long tenure, they are really screwed with the next CBO search.

It could be Cora gets his job.

Maybe the only way to fix this franchise is to truly bottom out.

If we really suck by the deadline, I don't see very much high trade value- low control year players to deal.

1 year: Gray, Sandoval & IKF

1-2 years:  Chapman could be the prize

2 years: Story, Yoshida, Oviedo & Houck

3: Contreras, Duran, Romy, Crawford, Casas, Wong

I doubt he's considering selling. I do wonder what his thoughts were, when fans were chanting that at the park.

I've always said, "Be careful what you wish for." The next owner could spend less and hire worse leadership.

I'm not ready to jump ship on Brez & Cora, but the thread is getting thinner and thinner by the day.

I think Cora has checked out. There’s a lot of streaky bats in this lineup up and not one legit 300 hitter. Not one legit 30hr bat and too much reliance on young players in their first year or two of MLB with no proven track record.
Henry may have a high AAV but his real money spent is around 180ishM with all his backloaded deals. So realistically he can go over and cover the REAL money spend and still be under as far as out of pocket goes. Then after 2027 the payroll drops off a cliff and he can reset again. He’s a cheap ass. I really hope something happens where he sells. I doubt it, but one can still pray 🙏 it happens.

It's hard to know if the best manager in the history of MLB can do much to help some slumping batters.

This is not a defense of Cora.

I agree. I think im a little bias because i was never a fan. I do think hes checked out though.
this is going to be this offenses problem. LOTs of slumping and inconsistency. Theres a lot of 250-260 lifetime BAs in this lineup like I was saying in an earlier post.
personally I do think its time for a managerial change regardless how I personally feel about him.

His hyper-loyalty to vets that clouds his decision- making, gives the appearance that he's doing nothing,

In a way, he's not.

Status quo is fine when it's working. What does he do when it's not working?

Then again, we have posers upset at him for trying our too many different line-ups and alignments. When you lose, it seems like nothing you do can ever be viewed as right.
