Those who think the Red Sox offense is just brutal need only look at the league batting statistics. The Sox don't completely suck, but they are completely average.

Boston's team batting average is .231 while the average average in the American League is .232. Seven teams in the AL are better, seven teams are worse.

Five Red Sox are basically .300 hitters but seven are in the .100s.

Right in the middle is Roman Anthony at .230 -- a completely average hitter who strikes out a ton... but whose 19 Ks are only tied with WiLLson Contreras and WBC teammate Byron Buxton for 22nd in the AL.

The difference is that Buxton looks like a total superstar in Minnesota vs. the Sox, who can't get back home fast enough.

The Sox are 22nd in runs, but just 4-5 runs from the mean.

16th in OBP at .316

23rd in OPSat .662 (#15 is .698)

26th in SLG at .346

29th in ISO at .113 (We knew we had a power shortage) Last place is .112

11th in K% 24% (actually 19th place)

Our pitching is at a 0.0 fWAR (27th)

🔺SP ERA is 5.27, 3rd worst in baseball.

🔺Scored 68 runs, 22nd in baseball.

🔺Committed 14 errors, 4th most in baseball.

🔺Stolen 6 bases, 2nd least in baseball.

🔺9 ABS challenges won, 2nd least in baseball.

This is what happens when you go with a AAA team all the way thinking most of them are going to be Ronald Acuña some day.

The losses are the least of my concerns, what is really worrisome is that most of our key players seem to be very overrated  —Anthony, Mayer, Durbin, Narvaez, Duran Add to the equation bums like Story, IKF and Wong.

Unfortunately some of us drank the "we are better than last year" kool aid in the offseason.

Pete Townshend's pissed. We got fooled again.
