I get why they wanted a RH to break up the left handed dominated staff. But I never considered Sonny Gray to be a #2.

The biggest problem with MLB is their inability to manage their underperforming umpires.  Players and coaches are held accountable but umpires are not.

Can't be out of challenges by the 3rd inning, especially with this clown behind the plate.

Abreau's HR was awesome.  Shame it was wasted, they had plenty of chances.

I won't lie, I was concerned that Chapman may revert to control problems and last season was an aberration.  Glad to see I may have been wrong there.

Its one game and Gray's and Story's fielding miscuses gave them 2 runs. Sonny will be solid.

I think Story made up for his misplay with a HR too, but it still was very frustrating to watch, especially considering how this team is suppose to be all about "pitching and defense"

Lets hope for a win today, take the series.  You win every series or most you're a 95+ win playoff team.

Only took two games to have our first one LOL.

We fought back and made some big plays. The mistakes hurt, too much.

I think they view Suarez as the #2, but he was not quite ready for game 2.

Gray is a fine pitcher and should end up having better numbers than most team's #2s.

I just figured they wanted to break it up and go lefty, righty, lefty.

Gray's numbers don't really impress me all that much, I'm sure he's fine but not sure he's a number 2 on a good staff.

I think you might be giving too much credit to other teams.

When you look at numbers like fWAR and FIP, Gray is a top 30 or 60 pitcher, going back one year, 2 years or 3 years.

ERA- Gray was 77th in 2025 among all SP'ers with 100+ IP. That's like a #3, but when you go back 2 years, he's #63. Go back 3 years and he's #28, which can show he's been a #1. This is his "bad stat," and it still shows he's been a #2 over the past 3 years, but moving towards or into the #3 range as he ages.

FIP, he's #10 since 2023! He's #13 since 2024. He was #21 in 2025. All these support the idea that he's a #1, but I won't agree with that.

By fWAR, he was the #21 in 2025. How many teams have 2 guys above that?
