After missing out on Alex Bregman and landing Ranger Suarez, the Boston Red Sox are still looking to fill the hot corner with a bat. However, it doesn't appear reinforcements will come via two names they've been tied to for months.

Alex Speier of the Boston Globe is reporting that the Red Sox are "unlikely suitors" for Bob Bichette and that the door on Ketel Marte is "firmly shut."

If the Red Sox are going to add an impact bat that can handle the hot corner, then Eugenio Suarez is really the only player to fit that description on the market. Otherwise, they've been tied to Isaac Paredes of the Houston Astros or could look to the Chicago Cubs, who might move one of Matt Shaw or Nico Hoerner after landing Bregman. Other names on the market with less oomph include Yoan Moncada and Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

Who do you think the Red Sox should add? Let us know in the comments!

I still think if we offer what AZ wants for KMarte, he can be obtained. (We should know what they want by now.)

That being said, there are several trade options out there for a 3Bman or 2Bman.

3B: Paredes, Shaw, Bohm, Vientos plus FA E Suarez

2B: Donovan, Hoerner, Chisholm, G Torres

Is Torres available?  I have to think Detroit was ready to pay him when they offered the QO..,

So the Mets have Bichette, Lindor, Semien, Polanco, Brett Baty, Luisangel Acuna, and Mark Vientos to fill four INF/DH slots.

Meanwhile 22yo Carson Benge (.583 OPS in limited AAA action, but a .978 OPS in slightly more AA time) as their starting LF.  And Tyrone Taylor in CF.

But more important, their rotation appears to be Nolan McLean, David Peterson, Clay Holmes, Sean Manaea, and Kodai Senga.

Was infield really their weakness?

I don't know how well Batty fits at Fenway. Seems like the Mets don't need him anymore. Jett may not help the Sox this year, but the Mets don't need him at all.

I have to think DET was ready to get a comp pick and do without him, also.

No, I have not heard his name mentioned.

I also think if they were talking about trading Skubal, are they really looking at 2026 as their one year window? Maybe. Maybe not.

I thought Ian Cundell brought up a good point on the last podcast.

There's only so many guys available.  How many guys are there at the MLB level who play or can play 3B? now how many of those are available? now out of those how many are good? and if a guy checks all those boxes they have to hit from the right side of the plate or have the perfect splits for Fenway.

Getting a guy that is an ideal fit on paper is nice, but sometimes I think that's just silly.  Maybe Baty would be absolutely fine at Fenway, maybe he'd go the opposite way just fine and pepper the wall.

If he's the last girl at the dance, fine. I just think there may still be other options that are more attractive that I'd like to fool around with.

He seems pull happy.

Two guys that fit Fenway might be the oft-mentioned Isaac Paredes and the rarely mentioned Miguel Vargas.

The less Vargas is mentioned, the better.  He’s reportedly a huge *******…

There's always a more attractive option the question is A.) are they available and B.) how does their current team value your trade chips?

What if Marte was back on the market but they didn't like our pitchers? so we'd really have to overpay to get him.  So many things have to match up perfectly to get the "Ideal" guy. and sometimes that guy doesn't work out.

I don't disagree with you, but for these reasons I don't consider ballpark factors at all.  If he can hit he will be fine at Fenway.

These big stars are taking super high AAV deals and not 6+ years.

It’s another Bregman type deal with the Red Sox with opt-outs after first, and second year.

Paredes has been talked up a bunch, so maybe?

I don't believe Marte is available.

If Paredes is off the table and the conversation is between Baty and Shaw, I go with Baty. Another guy that people will struggle to spell correctly.

So you noticed I got it wrong before I fixed it myself?
