plenty of times, but i honestly have been looking at 2026 projected wRC+ for 2026 since yesterday and William is #30 on that list and thats how this mix up happened.

The 2026 projections might be a better stat to use than something an older guy did in 2024 mixed with 2025.

Either way, I see Duran, Contreras and Anthony as 2nd tier guys with Abreu a possibility of joining in for 2026.

We need a #1 tier bat, and Paredes is pretty close to one and might be the best we can hope for.

E Suarez would help the line-up but not the D.

Keeping Duran, no matter who we add helps the offense. Creating a DH logjam is a secondary issue that is way down the list of issues/priorities to work on.

This is a much better use of our money than a position player!

slide him in behind crochet and now our rotation is much stronger!!

The deeper I look at his number the more I am liking this signing. Teams that have to see Crochet and him in back-to-back games are going to struggle. Crochet hard stuff and Suarez's soft stuff. I think it makes them both more effective.

there is a very open pathway to Bres getting lots of criticism for not plugging in that gap, but the offseason isn't over yet.

I've seen this so, so often.  You have to make tough decisions.  There is no real right or wrong.  Breslow probably has 2-3 Type A options and 2-3 Type B options.  Taking the first offer might please the fans, but his job is to improve the team.

I'm pretty sure Brez has a few options in the works. Maybe he'll end up with someone we don't like that much or haven't even talked about, but maybe he'll get us a prize.

Ill take my L's when deserved but Im not rolling over on this one.  This one was a funny coincidence that one brother was #30 in wRC+ when sort to 2024+2025 and the other brother was #30 in wRC+ in projected 2026.

I really had been talking about projected and that is what I had open on my screen, and I missed the switch from talking projected 2026 to historical 24/25.

I will accept an L for accusing Moon of making a mistake, but its an easy mistake to do to see william contreras and read willson contreras

Regardless Im glad we have willson and I would gladly take william, but I honestly wouldnt consider either a top 30 hitter in 2026 (I dont think)

That being said, might have been another thread but you said the projection of like 2 and a little change WAR from 1b felt light to you and I would agree with that.  So Im not making the case that willson contreras is bad or didnt significantly help the offense. He did.  I wish they had alonso, but contreras is a fine short term pivot.

Well, if William has 2 L's his parents didn't want Willson to go without.

William is younger though. Maybe they should have instead named him Willliam?

I've confused William with Willson, too. No biggie.

I don't think he will be a top 30 batter, but top 60 seems likely for him, Duran and Anthony. Maybe Abreu finally has the year we've hoped he would have. Maybe one of these 4 crack the top 30, and I'd bet on Anthony.

One top 30 and 2-3 in the 31-60 range is not horrible, and I still maintain that our 5-9 batters compare pretty well with most team and seem more "balanced," but the real good teams blow the Sox away on offense: from top batter, to top 3-4 batters and top 5-6 batters.

Adding a big bat is what we need most, right now.

Needs to be a big bat, or Ozzie Smith. I don't believe Ozzie is available though.

The Oz would always be welcomed by me, even at 71.

The Oz is Ozzie Osbourne

In 1980, he set the single-season record for most assists by a shortstop (621), and began his string of 13 consecutive Gold Glove awards.[34] Smith's fielding play prompted the Yuma Daily Sun to use the nickname "the Wizard of Oz" in a March 1981 feature article about Smith.[35] While "the Wizard of Oz" nickname was an allusion to the 1939 motion picture of the same name, Smith also came to be known as simply "the Wizard" during his playing career, as Smith's Baseball Hall of Fame plaque would later attest.

Ill allow it, but when I hear "The Oz" my brain jumps to "The Ozzman" and thereby ozzy osbourne.

Ive heard Ozzie Osbourne referred to as "the Ozzman", I think one of the times was when he saves the world in the silly but fun movie "Little Nicky"

They were both great, but I prefer the rocker personally.  I like Mister Crowley, No more Tears, Flyin High Again, Crazy Train, the one with Lita Ford, Shot in the dark....

The rocker is just a bigger part of my life.

Also - Ozzie Smith never played for hte red sox

The Prince of Darkness

The Ozzman

Yes, agreed.

My brain extrapolates The Oz to The Ozzman

Was Ozzie SMith ever referred to as "the oz"

do you think they ever met?

If I was on color commentary for an MLB game in the late 80s, I would def be making the jokes

"Oz on third, we'll see if mama hes coming home"

Rips a fastball in a non-fastball count: "What a rip! How did he know he was gonna get a fastball there. Must have been a shot in the dark"

Barreling around second heading for three: "Ozzie is coming off the wheels on a crazy train"

Lita Ford was a babe back in the 80's, but I'm more of a Black Sabbath fan than an Ozzy solo album guy.
