Woo got the win. Anderson looked good in 4IP (3H 0ER 0BB 4K) Eaton went 3-3 with HR, BB and 2B.

POR won as Mullins pitched 2 hit shutout ball over 5 IP but had 5BB & 5K. Baez homered and Arias went 1-4.

GRE won 10-7 in 10 IP, despite walking 11 batters. GRE walked 11 times, too. Gonzales went 3-5 w HR. Tucker homered, too.

SAL was the only team in the organization to lose, and they lost 7-0. D Reyes did not do well.

soxprospects.com is one of my favorite websites. They do a pretty good job providing information on the team's prospects. Of course, they get some rankings wrong, but they are pretty accurate most of the time. Here is a look at their top 5 prospects from 2003 to today. I took the liberty of selecting the best 5 from their Spring, Summer and Fall rankings. Any lower ranked prospects that did well were added in parenthesis. (Highest ranking that year provided) Sometimes I left our prospects who graduated that year or soon afterwards, if I listed them in previous years.

2003: 2 Lester, 1 Youkilis, 2 HRam, 1 Freddie Sanchez, 4 Shoppach (D Murphy & Jorge de la Rosa)

2004: 1 Lester, 3 Pedey, 1 Youkilis, 1 HRam, 5 Papelbon (B Moss)

2005: 3 Pedey, 1 Papelbon, 1HRam, 3 Anibal Sanchez, 4 Abe Alvarez (Buchholz & Lowrie)

2006: 1 Papelbon, 1 Ellsbury, 4 Pedey, 2 C Hansen, 5 B Cox (Masterson & Cla Meredith)

2007: 1 Buchholz, 1 Ellsbury, 4 Pedey, 4 Masterson, 3 Bowden (D Bard, Doubront & Reddick)

2008: 1 Buchholz, 1 Masterson, 1 Lars Anderson, 3 Lowrie, 3 Reddick (Middlebrooks & Casey Kelly)

2009: 1 Anderson, 1 C Kelly, 2 Bowden, 2 Reddick, 3 D Bard (Tazawa, Westmoreland, Fife, Alex Wilson) (Pretty crappy farm.)

2010: 1 Kelly, 2 Reddick, 2 Anderson, 3 Kalish, 4 Rizzo, 5 Iggy (Workman)

2011: 2 Iggy, 1. Kalish, 1 Middy, 2 Ranaudo, 3 Doubront (Barnes)

YRod has bolted up the stats list. Nobody in the system has more PAs and a higher OPS (1.037) Arias and Tucker are higher but have less PAs. Arias leads the system in HRs at 7, with YRod at 5.

Ferguson has shot up to 1.000 but apparently forgot how to steal bases (3 w 2CS.)

I lost faith in Cespedes, and now he's at .879.

Godbout is now over .800.

The ERA leaders with 16+ IP:

0.51 Futrell

0.54 Eyanson

0.86 Bennett

Woo is getting lit up- mostly Noah Song & Seth Martinez. KC is 2 for 3, so far.

Arias is falling off a cliff- no HRs and just 2-4, so far. Ziehl has gone 6 IP, allowing just 1 run.

SAL is up 4-0 in the 7th, as Patton went 5IP 2H 0ER 2BB 6K. Heyman & Azocar homered.

Greenville with 5 taters. Gonzales 4th, cespedes 4th, encarnacion 4th, godout 3rd. And yophery 6th,

Salem had opata 2nd, heyman 2nd, azocar 4th.

I can't remember the last time the entire top ten got off to such an amazing start, obviously the news with Valera is a bummer but the system is looking up.  About the only thing to be excited about in Sox nation nowadays.

Even on the last soxprospects.com podcast they were talking about him and saying that even though the results aren't there yet the stuff still looks really good, he's just working on some things.

Good news. I must have missed that podcast.

Yes, the numbers don't always tell the whole/important story.

Eyanson throwing harder than he did in college and apparently the slider is top notch.  Given he was an accomplished college starter - he is REALLY close to getting to Portland.

It might not be out yet, Patreon supporters get the podcast a few days earlier than everyone else.

I was very high on Cespedes a couple years ago, then I soured badly, recently. He's only 20, so I should have cut him some slack.

He seems to be making great strides. Let's see how he hits AA ball, once he gets promoted.

With 22 year olds Castro and Bleis, I think I'm totally done with any hopes on that pair.

Arias went 0-4  Dude is falling off a cliff!!!!

But even his outs were loud, the center fielder on the other team made a leaping catch at the warning track to rob Franklin last night.

I'm not sure how much longer they can hold him down.  I know they like that 250 PA threshold, and he should reach that in about another month.  I think we certianly see him in Worcester sometime early summer.

The problem with Cespedes is that he doesn't have a defensive home. He's a short DH. There's really not much projection. If he's not tearing up the low minors like the Martian was, there's not enough meat on the bone to really care about.

Castro is 22 and in AAA. He's started slow after every jump. Bleis is a different story.

Sox top prospects: (soxprospects,com)

1. Tolle is in the MLB rotation and doing okay.

3. Early is in the MLB rotation and doing more than okay.

2. Arias is lighting up the minors in awesome ways.

4. Witherspoon does not have great numbers but is working on a mix of pitches.

5. Valera was off to a great start before hitting the IL.

6. Eyanson is doing well enough to jump up in the mid season rankings, if this continues.

7. Phillips has not distinguished himself, but he's okay.

8. Justin Gonzales is over .900 and may end up in AA.

10. Bennett starts tonight and was off to a great beginning of the AAA season.

11. Godbout is heating up and is now at .828.

12. Romero is not making a case for a promotion to the 40.

13. Uberstine got a brief MLB look-see but is now on the IL.

14. Holobetz is off to a great start in AA.

15. Azocar is at .869 and looking to move up. He's just 19.

9. Soto, 17. Ramos & 18. Rivas have yet to play.

16. Castro should drop from the top 20 this summer.

19. Samaniego has been on the big club and done okay.

20. Wehunt has done fine in AA.

21. Bastardo & 22. Paez were returned to the Sox.

Cespedes still has huge strike out and chase numbers. Not sure he has improved much at all,

Not much farm pitching to brag about, but E Rivera pitched very well out of the pen. 3IP 1H 0ER 0BB 5K

Holobetz got drilled and saw his ERA more than double.

Eyanson was a little wild (3BB in 3.2 IP but only 1 hit, 0ER and 7 Ks.) Neely got lit up.

sALEM LOST 11-2, So no good pitching there, either.
