Just about every WOO pitcher got lit up in their 14-10 loss, last night. Good to see KC get 3 hits (.722) Woo's line-up had 6 guys that are now over .948.

1.281 Gasper

1.279 Capra

1.133 Sogard

1.119 Cheng

.992 Thaiss

.948 Romero

POR's staff let up 12 runs, led by Mullins with 5ERs in 1.2 IP. Their leading batters are .909 Ferguson and .889 Arias.

GRE got their first win, as Ingrassia got the win by going 3 scoreless in relief (no hits)

SAL went to 3-1 with a 10-2 win. Finley looked okay(4IP, 3H, 1ER, 3BB & 2 K) Salazar went 4-5 2 two 2Bs. Azocar 2-5 and Hodge 3-4.

In the pen?

He's on the inactive list, but I assume he'll end up in the pen. Who knows though.

KC still isn't getting the exit velos we want to see. Only one pitch was above 91 mph (the groundout). It's going to take time for him to come around as his approach is very different than what it was previously.

Valera is throwing again. We'll see if he gives up another dominant 2 ER in 3.1.

From soxprospects,com...

Player of the Day: The long-awaited professional debut of Brandon Neely went as well as could have hoped, with the 22-year-old former Florida Gator went two hitless innings, striking out five. Neely dropped into the third round after an uneven Junior campaign in which he posted a 5.13 ERA but struck out 108 batters in 79 innings in a swingman role. He was unable to debut last season because of elbow soreness that he was able to rehab rather than get surgery. He is currently ranked 49th in the system.

A good sign for Neely. If he was healthy, he'd be much further along than sitting in Salem.

Uberstine finished off Woo's shutout win: 3 IP 1H 0ER 1BB 3K

Ehrhard homered in POR's 4-3 win.

GRE got the shutout, too, They won 2-0 and Gartrell & Brooks both pitched 2 shutout innings. GRE pitchers had 17 Ks! They allowed 3 hits and walked 5.

SAL completed the farm sweep with a 2-1 win.

I know I have said this many times, but Valera’s stuff is amazing!!!

if he ever learns command and control, he could make it to Boston!!!!

or he could go the way of winkleman

Valera was actually dominant last night.

5IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 9 K, 56 P, 39 S

I'm not sure Wikelman ever had a line like this.

Wikelman was a wish and a prayer. Valera looks like he's finally putting it together.

Agreed.

I'm thinking he has jumped Witherspoon, despite this being just a small sample size, but speaking of SSS's, how big is Kyson's?

My top 5:

1. Early

2. Tolle

3. Valera

4. Witherspoon

5. Arias

(I'd put Gonzales 6th- not Eyanson or Phillips.)

I'd still keep Witherspoon ahead of Valera as he's a bonafide starter. Valera could still end up in the pen. Witherspoon has 5 pitches and a history of starting. Valera is still new to starting, being a DSL guy. Valera's secondaries are also worse at the moment than Witherspoon's. The question to me is how do Valera and Eyanson stack up. I think Valera has a slightly higher ceiling (as a starter), but Eyanson is more likely to stick as a starter.

Witherspoon has pitched one game. I'm not sure we can know enough about his "secondaries" to rank him higher.

What did Eyanson do to jump Phillips in the rankings, when neither has pitched one inning?

Eyanson and Phillips both pitched in ST and we can go off reports from there. I also believe in Eyanson's pitch mix and history of starting more than Phillips.

Okay, the ST'ing look counts, but neither pitched for the MLB team in a ST'ing game. I understand, scouts can still see how good a pitcher's stuff is.

The history was there for the last rankings, too.

I'm going on MY personal opinion as well as what SoxProspects/Baseball America and other say. I always defer to the guy with the better pitch mix, which is why I really like Early at the beginning of his pro career.

Regardless, having Eyanson/Valera/Witherspoon and being able to compare and contrast is a problem we've really never had before. Can't complain!

Indeed, and those three are all ranked below Early & Tolle!

Plus, we have another promising tier behind them: Bennett, Holobetz & maybe Uberstine.

Farm Records:

AAA: 8-3 Woo (tied for 1st in East Division)

AA: 2-3 POR (1GB NE Division leaders)

A+: 2-4 GRE (2GB South Division)

A-: 5-1 SAL (1st Place in North Division)

17-11 Total

Many felt GRE was the team to watch, and they still are, but they have the worst record of all 4 teams.
