I don't believe the promotion from AA to AAA is as big of an adjustment for hitters, so he may not see a second half flameout.

Agreed. He's doing much better with POR than after his late season call up in 2025- both small sample sizes.

Just put him at #2 now and get him used to hitting there.

Wait -- in the batting order? Don't you know, the Red Sox analists have metrics that show you should always bat your worst hitter second.

I think the smallest metric length is called quectometer (10 to the negative 30 power).

All winter long posters like us were worried about Boston's quectometer.

This is all Beacon's fault. Boo Beacon! Bring back Carmine!

Elbow inflammation for Valera. Will reevaluate in the coming days and determine if an MRI is needed.

Per Hunter Noll who was watching:

"He didn't look too pissed, and slapped a teammate on the butt as he left the mound... hopefully nothing too serious. Didn't notice anything on the pitch... Valera asked for a mound visit in the first inning, so maybe something was bothering him then, too."

The in- game story said "back injury."

Weird.

Weird.

He reached towards his back when it happened I guess. That may have been to just stretch out his arm.

I was overly hyped on Cespedes a couple years back, all but gave up on him and now this...

How about Arias, who keeps seeing his OPS go up? He homered tonight!

POR lost 2-0.

He was really throwing well today. Command and control, one pitch got away from him!

he has impressed me a lot so far this season.

Eyanson is showing why they jumped him over Phillips, Gonzales & Soto. He's 6th in IP on the farm and has a .338 OPS Against.

The Priester deal is looking a lot better with Holobetz doing so well. Hell, even YRod has an .832 OPS as a 20 year old in A+ ball. John Holobetz is 2nd in IP and has an 0.73 ERA & .397 OPS Against with 23Ks in 16 IP. That's 12.9/9!

Futrell is now 5th in IP among farm pitchers and has an eye-popping .191 OPS Against (2H & 3BB with 13 Ks)

Bennett has been the other major standout pitcher on the farm. He's first in IP at 16.1 and has an 0.55 ERA and .337 OPSA. He's walked just 2 batters and has 13 Ks.

Tolle had one bad start, but has 19Ks and 4BBs in 15 IP. (3.00 ERA/.619 OPSA) Valera in on the IL after a fantastic first 9.1 IP (1.93/.441) with an earth shattering 17 Ks (4BB)

Pretty encouraging start on the farm for this handful of pitchers.
