Chris Sale fractured a rib trying to field a ball and is on ATL's IL ???     The trade is finally justified . Grissom can still be on the field, although it is the field in Worcester.

Love the sarcasm.  Sale was the worst trade in years if not decades.  We paid his salary last season when he won the Cy Young for the Braves.  This year he is/was their best starter for 1/2 season.  With Sale the Sox make it to the postseason last season and again this season.  And to do that was simplicity itself.  Keep him.

You gotta know when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, and when to walk away.

Crochet right now is by far Breslow's best acquisition.  In the 13 games before the ASG he starts 3 times.  I'm counting on 3 wins.  If he does that and the Sox win just 5 of the other 10 games, they will be at .500 at the ASG.

That sounds like a long shot, but Bello and Giolito also start 3 games each over the next 13 games.  Plus I'm encouraged by the hitting in the last 2 games.  If the bullpen can regroup, we got a shot.

After the ASG, Bregman should return and provide a big lift.  Yoshida maybe a little lift.  Anthony and Mayer could grow into MLB hitters right before our eyes.

We held the Sale card in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

You are right, we should have known to walk away before we extended him.

Good point, Max.

Decades?  No.  Sale was the worst trade since 2020.  Thats as far back as I can go…

The Betts trade was worse. That's not even 1 decade ago.

That one was bad in foresight and hindsight, too.

Looks like for MLB hitters, 100mph alone is not enough.  (Though some of those pitches seemed well located.)

Duran is a slow learner, as all season long he has been striking out with soft stuff moving off the plate outside.
