You can blame it on injuries ,  and Bregman's was a backbreaker for this lineup,  you can say Casas didn't matter because he was not hitting nor fielding well enough,  you can say turmoil between Cora/Breslow/Devers  put a cloud over the clubhouse ( no proof that any player cares) .

Any of the above do not well explain Bello and Houck's regression, Crawford about to miss 1/2 a season with the same injury as  existed last year , The team doesn't hit well to support good pitching by Crochet.  Nor explain a BP that is working on overdrive. in April/May.

You are correct FredLynn, it will be a long depressing summer of baseball in Boston.

Anthony is coming soon, but be prepared for slumps, struggles and Ks -- just like with Campbell and now Mayer.

Will it suck to watch? Yup, mostly. But such growing pains are normal, even for future stars. It doesn't mean the entire Big Three will dominate this final and ultimate level, like they did in AA and AAA... but most who do that usually at least become pretty good big leaguers.

This summer -- with the Red Sox treading basepaths again -- is as good a time as any for the future core to go through such adjustments.

Yeah-the 10 (or is it 20) year rebuilding plan, aka imcompetence.

I agree with you about get  all the rookies, including Anthony , out on the field  and at bat. Better to suffer the growing pains now, .  At least some professional evaluators can get a clue whether they really are the answer or not .

To have to trash a season  at the 1/3rd point is a harsh statement on the degree of preparation by the FO and field coaches at all levels

The hold up of Anthony arriving in Boston is strictly financial. The Sox FO would rather save a couple of bucks than actually improve the team.

However, if the Sox finishing under.500 again gets Cora fired, then it will be worth it

Another 14 K game,  that is now 28 for the 2 games in Atlanta , but a split is a split, right ?

I would like to know if the K phenomena is actually the result of an organizational hitting approach that is being taught and reinforced. ?  This is not normal professional baseball .  Launch angle and balls up in the air only work when you have more than warning track power

Campbell is totally lost at this point.  Mayer is coming out of the dugout with the now familiar, down 0-2 in the count.  Rafaela is still a big chaser.

If this is the result of how the Sox teach hitting, then all of the supporters of this theory need to go asap.

We can't put any kind of nice streak together. The "vibes" are looking pretty damn bad, this year.

I'm not feeling it.

The Sox will have to start their 10 game winning streak tomorrow.

By the way, the Yankees were down 10 to nothing in the 2nd inning against the Dodgers. I didn't waste my time watching any more.
