Schwellenbach pitched 7 innings and gave up 4 earned runs to garner the win against us on May 18th.

Bello had one of his worst outings, pitching 4 1/3, giving up 7 earned runs on 10 hits and 5 walks.

Bello only threw 52 of his 92 pitches for strike.

Devers hit a 3 run blast to give the Sox 4-3 lead after 3 but it was all for not as Bello could not come up with a shutdown inning.

Excellent win and much needed last night, especially for Trevor Story.

You can't win 10 in a row if you don't win #2, so let's get this one done.

Pitching has been a problem all season long, but now the hitting suffers from the absence of Bregman.  The Sox lost 5 straight after Bregman's last game (for an estimated 2 months).   We all like Mayer at 3b, but his OPS so far is .554.

Against righty Schwellenbach Cora is repeating last night's lineup:   Duran, Devers, Abreu, Narvaez, Mayer, Toro, Story, Campbell, and Rafaela.

Love line 2.

Can't get the game, so have reverted to NESN radio, which is pretty good.   What's happening is not so good.

A high 90's fast ball against one of the worst fast ball hitting teams might make it a long day for the Sox.

Afraid so.

Even with the win last night , the Sox had 14K's , guess they don't matter . Especially when your own pitching is shutdown after the 1st.

Today we have 6 after 4 innings .

The combined game +1/2 is showing a K rate of just over 50%  .     At the end of the day, is it coaching/training through the entire system over multiple years at all levels or is it truly just individual inability to master MLB level skills ?

Here's how you lose,  a little bit at a time, an error here, a bad pitch there, fail to put away potential outs , give up 2 out HRs.   Like a savings account no one deposit is so big, but over time they add up.

Buehler did not have the big 2 out pitch today.

The Sox will have to start their 10 game winning streak tomorrow.

I can't even watch this team consistently anymore. It not even f'ing JUNE and the season is already over, just like last year and the year before and the year before and the year before etc etc etc..  Henry doesn't care as long as his wallet is padded. They haven't been truly competitive since 2021. Its pathetic. I guess its back to "wait til next year" bs. Screw this franchise.

When the Sox win, Devers' BA is .409.

When the Sox lose, Devers' BA is .179.

It would be interesting to see the correlation of Duran on base %  and Devers BA  + RBIs  when Duran reaches 1 or more times .

Absent those 2 players , not much happens until Abreu hits a mostly solo HR.

Toro is becoming my favorite player.

I think we do overlook something Merloni pointed out and has been mentioned in some TalkSox threads.

There is a rookie at Catcher, AAAA Bench  player Toro at 1B, rookie at 2B, rookie at 3B, defensive specialist  in CF ( starting to hit a little, but otherwise K machine ),  a big time slump at SS .      A $30 million DH .

What the heck did you expect ?

Anthony is coming soon, but be prepared for slumps, struggles and Ks -- just like with Campbell and now Mayer.

Will it suck to watch? Yup, mostly. But such growing pains are normal, even for future stars. It doesn't mean the entire Big Three will dominate this final and ultimate level, like they did in AA and AAA... but most who do that usually at least become pretty good big leaguers.

This summer -- with the Red Sox treading basepaths again -- is as good a time as any for the future core to go through such adjustments.

He left out the below average starting pitching.
