Houck- out until 2027

Crawford, Dobbins, Sandoval and Wink by opening day.

I felt the same.

We were at the park today and saw Fred Lynn.  I do see the physical comparisons between Anthony and Lynn.  I do think that Roman Anthony is going to be a big time player for us but in no way does he remind me just yet of Freddie Lynn.  MVP and ROTY - A center fielder deluxe.  Maybe some day - not just yet.

Back to 15 games over .500

What a difference two days make. After those two losses to PIT, the air was sucked out of the room. That was after going 7-1 on a tough road trip.

This team will have highs and lows for the rest of the season because they are mostly very young!!!
offensively I would hope Bregman and rafeala get hot. It would help tremendously

Oh I'm not comparing their stats, as I said Lynn was a better hitter and fielder.  I just said he reminds me of Lynn.

I understand where you are coming from.  When I first saw Anthony walk to the plate in his first ml game, he reminded me of someone also.  Slim, tall, strong with a very good eye.  Not Lynn for me but I bet people can guess who he made me think of.

What year? I do believe Dwight had a different stance at the plate each season. Or was it each at bat? No matter, it seemed to work..

The young Dwight was thinner and stood tall for a year or two at bat.

Too bad the Yanks have heated up. I was hoping they missed the dance, this year, but then again, I don't want Boone or Cashman fired. The Yanks have 2 more games to play than us, so in that way, they hold their own destiny in their hands, but we play them, so we do, too.

Both of us are 2.5 GB the struggling Jays, who have 1 more game to play than we do- one less than the Yanks.

The Sox are just 2 GB DET, now. They also have 2 more games to play than us.

I mention the game left disparity to highlight the fact that we have 1-2 more days off, in the next month, and for a team in need of a #5 SP'er, that is helpful. I also think some of our pitchers need some rest, namely Crochet, who is on pace to lead the league in IP, just months after most of us worrying about his ability to pitch more than 150 IP.

It's understandable to judge a manager, GM and team by wins and losses. I get it. I do wonder why some fans seem to overlook our current record and think this team is an also-ran, fringe playoff contender with near impossible odds at winning the 2025 WS.

Are the Dodgers a top contender? (We are 1 GB them!)

How about DD's Phillies? (We are just 3 GB them.)

How about our chances at winning the "mediocre" American League? You gotta think making it to the WS gives any team a legit shot, right?

We are 2.5 GB TOR, 2.0 behind DET and tied with the NYY for the top AL teams.

I've been asking for years and years, "How Soon Is Now?" and I'm wondering if "Now" is now!

I think we are a legit WS ring contender. Not quite top 3-4 but very close to #4.

Pitt just beat the Dodgers  and had another big scoring night. We would have had to hit better to win the series. I believe some of the guys were tired and underperformed, Bregman is one example. A little home cooking and rest should right the ship. It of course was worrisome since the wild card race is tight this year. The Mariners lost last night so at least that was a positive development.

Whats the basis for the AL being so weak? As a league, they’re 14 games over .500.  Since the record of all games between two AL teams is .500, that difference comes from beating up the “superior” National League….

Not Rudy Pemberton?

Career 938 OPS with the Sox. It's a shame he wanted to just rake and eat food overseas. Could have been an all time great.

The NL does not share the parity the AL does. They have 3-4 teams much better than the others.

The AL is more bunched up near mediocrity.

Mediocrity is not "weak."

I think MIL, PHI and LAD look better than all AL teams and the SDP might be, too.

Do you disagree?

No one player makes or breaks a season, but losing Anthony for what appears to be into October really is a gut punch to this team and its chances at a ring.

Other teams have had several major injuries, so I hate crying over this, but it's going to be very hard to advance through the playoffs with out Roman.

It's bad enough losing 4 of our top SP'ers for the rest of the season, plus Casas, but Anthony looks like the straw that will break our backs.

I'm not giving up. Maybe Abreu takes up some slack. Maybe Lowe has found his lost touch. Maybe, maybe, maybe is gettingtiring.

Let’s hope we win a lot of 3-2 games the rest of the way until Roman gets back

4-6 weeks could mean 2026.

Same guy I remember.   Best or 2d best hitter in MLB history.
