We will pass the negative run differential Mariners.

Stupid Mariners.  Probably the only team that I have recently rooted for them to beat is the Yankees, and they get swept.  Then I am absolutely pulling against them in the Tigers series, and they win all three, scoring 35 runs in 3 games.  I'll say again, stupid Mariners.  I'm glad we passed them in the standings.

You're welcome again!

Unfortunately, I can't give you a heartfelt "you're welcome."  LOL

I'm with Lou Merloni - I never root for the Yankees to win, unless it's at the end of the season and it's an absolute must that the Yankees win for the Red Sox to get into the playoffs.

The division has suddenly become interesting again.

They always bounce back after a miserable stretch.  Boone seems to be a really good regular season manager.

Based on what I have read here, I think most Yankees fans would disagree, at least when it comes to on field moves.  I think he probably does a really good job in the clubhouse.

Yep, Boone is a pretty bad in game manager. I don't know how it compares to other managers though since I feel like every fan base has the same complaints.

But one thing I do give him credit for is player management. He's never lost the locker room or there are never any press blowups, which is harder in NY since everything is magnified by the media. But that also makes me feel like he is too buddy-buddy with players and never holds them responsible for boneheaded mistakes.

I don't watch enough Yankees games to really comment on Boone's in-game moves.  (I only watch them when they're losing by a fair margin.  LOL)  But, I'm guessing that, as with Red Sox fans and Cora, a lot of the criticism and blame for in-game moves are probably unwarranted.  Just my opinion, but I think managers get too much blame for their teams' losses.

All good points regarding Boone and his player management.

Well, my son and I were talking this morning about the All-Star game.  He was on some Twitter feed after the game.  He told me that American League fans were really mad about how Boone managed the game.  They said they felt sorry for Yankees fans who had to put up with this type of mismanagement game after game.

I stand by my opinion that managers get far too much blame, and that most of the moves they make are not nearly as bad as fans think they are.  Also, the way that one manages an All-Star game would be far different than managing one's own team in the regular season.  I just thought it was funny that this was the first thing that my son brought up regarding the game.

He's not Suarez but still should be a big improvement for us. The Yanks are going from Peraza/Vivas' 25 wRc+ with mediocre defense at third base, to McMahon's 90 wRc+ with great defense.

589 OPS away from Coors this year

664 OPS away from Coors for his career

He's been pulling the ball a lot more this year, so may do fairly well at Yankee Stadium down the stretch.

It's always hard to know how Coors Field affects hitters. LeMahieu became better than ever when he left, Arenado had a bit of a resurgence after leaving Colorado as well before he got old. My expectation for McMahon is probably like a .240 hitter who walks a lot and has some pop.

Stroman released.

We might regret it if any more starters get hurt, since all of our depth has been sapped (Cole/Schmidt out for year, Carrasco traded). But otherwise this is the smart move. Eat the money and let a higher upside pitcher (Schlittler) get some MLB experience.

Congrats to the Yankees.  Great pitching in this series.  Thus ends a pretty good run we had against you guys.

Bad ending for your guys but overall I think it was a successful season for Boston given the expectations to start the year. Boston is potentially poised for a big 2026, but they definitely need to shore up some spots on their roster. And as Baltimore proved this year, growth is not linear for a lot of these young players so Breslow can't just assume every young player will be better and be able to fill a roster spot.
