Year after year the Yanks put up winning records.  They are obviously a well managed team in many ways.

At the same time, I know a lot of Yankee fans are frustrated that with all the winning seasons, they've only won the whole thing once since the year 2000.  Meanwhile the roller coaster Red Sox have won it all 4 times in that same stretch.  Some good fortune for the Sox involved there?  Hell yeah.

With 6 games coming up against the rockies and the angels, it's time to put more space between us and the blue jays.

Us? I thought you were a Red Sox fan. Or maybe I'm confusing you with another poster that has Splinter in their name

Sox fans have probably had the most highs and lows of the 21st century in MLB. But at least you have the championships to go with all those miserable seasons. Fans of teams like the Rockies and Orioles have nothing but lows.

As for Yankees fans, we do get to enjoy most regular seasons but then end up humiliated in October.

The AL East might not be that tough for the Yankees

The AL East is typically one of the stronger divisions in baseball, and it seemed likely to be formidable again in 2025, with the Yankees and Orioles coming off postseason berths and the Red Sox, Blue Jays and Rays all making moves to improve in the offseason.

However, that hasn’t been the case so far. Baltimore is this season’s most disappointing team at 19-35, while none of Boston, Toronto or Tampa Bay has been more than four games above .500 all year. Conversely, the Yankees have one of the best records in baseball, as well as an MLB-leading +112 run differential. They extended their AL East lead to seven games with Tuesday's win over the Angels, the largest of any first place team.

These April surprises have held up in May

Closing games is a stressful occupation. Devin Williams appears to be burnt out , at least for now. His confidence is missing in action. The Yankees should not use him in that situation. There are other options when Weaver is not available. You are welcome.

Round One of Yankees-Dodgers 2025 goes to the Dodgers as Max Fried gives up a 5-2 lead.

😀

Dodger juggernaut.

If we can bring down the Yanks with us, the season will not be a total loss.

Man, Judge is an absolute beast.

Lousy series for Yankees pitching. Gave up 27 total runs (11% of their season total). The fact that it was against Boston is irritating, but ultimately it's just one series.

June schedule looks relatively soft with 10 home games vs Angels/O's/A's, and 9 road games against KC/Boston/Reds. The Boone June Swoon has been a thing in prior years but hopefully this schedule prevents it from repeating.

Has anybody ever won the OPS title by 230+ points?

In 2004 Bonds had a 1.421 OPS. The next closest hitter was Todd Helton with a 1.089 OPS, so Bonds had a .332 OPS lead.

Does he count?

For this exercise I think he does. He was using PEDs when there was prevalent use, so his OPS lead is relative to all other roid users at the time (though I don't feel like Helton was a steroid user).

I guess some wonder about big-headed Judge, too. But I do not think he is/was a user.

I won't ever make a statement of 'No way is X a steroid user' because who the hell really knows, and I wouldn't want to be made a fool of kind of like Aaron Rodgers was when he backed Ryan Braun.

What is the over/under on when the Yankees may be able to score a run or two?

It's a crazy game.  They'll probably go off tonight.

I don't think I've ever witnessed the Yankees get shutout three straight games in my lifetime until today. 29 straight scoreless innings is pretty rare. At this point if they're gonna keep losing they might as well do it in record fashion.
