Now that KC, Mayer and Anthony are with the Red Sox, the WOO and POR line-ups look rather thin. We see a few promising players, but more dead end and AAAA types.

The GRE club has been the fun team to watch, this season, and now it's like the only team to watch.

Taking away the players now in the bigs, here are the OPS leaders at each level (non pitchers):

AAA:

.928 Jh Garcia (up to 100 PAs in AAA- the one true AAA everyday promise)

.913 Hickey (I'm still not sold, but good to see him making a move.)

.858 Jordan (not at 60 PAs w Woo, yet/ .928 w POR)

.798 Thompson (AAAA profile)

.742 Sogard (not sure he can ever be more than utility)

.719 Grissom (has some interest and chances)

.714 Sabol (AAAA catcher)

AA

.792 Romero (The only guy with real promise)

.770 Ehrhard

.768 Castro

A+

.817 Arias (GG defense, too)

.790 Bleis (on the rise)

.759 N Taylor

.716 Brannon

A-

.928 Encarnacion

.924 Anderson (100 PAs, now)

.856 Ju Gonzales

.804 Azocar

.804 Arias (promoted)

.727 Yuten

.721 Mussett

.700 Nunez

.698 Cespedes

Mullins went 4.1 innings of 1 hit ball! The 1 hit was a tater. 7 strikeouts.
ehrhard was 1 for 4. And got picked off 1st base.
castro 1 for 3 with a walk

Jordan is starting to get my attention. Maybe he was just a late bloomer.

Tibbs went 1-3 w BB.

Justin Gonzales went 2-3 and Musett 3-3.

Mussett is starting to put it together at the plate. Good at bats, still chases stuff, but I like his progress this season

Jordan with his 2nd Worcester tater tonight!!

I figured something must have happened because I saw a bunch of people say he needed to be called up. 🙄

I watched the GRE game and Holobetz pitched fairly well. Seemed to have some swing and miss. Offense didn't do anything. Arias looks slow running the bases to me.

More importantly, do we add him to the 40 man roster???

No reason to do until the end of the season or if he's needed for a callup.

If not, he'd get taken in the Rule 5 draft this time.

If they don't believe in him, they'll deal him at the deadline. If he's here on August 1, he's going to get added to the 40 man at some point.

That sounds fair!!  At some point they have to figure out what to do with Garcia too!!! He is already on the 40 man roster and at Worcester

Rob Refsnyder replacement? Or trade fodder?

They still need to work on fastballs though! I think they have gotten a little too far away from that IMO. Offspeed stuff is great, but they can't completely ignore the HEAT.

Hitters are ripping fastballs (especially 4 seamers) more than ever!!!  Easier for the hitters to tIme

we have Tolle and early in the minors throwing tons of breaking balls second time through the lineup!

Mongro just blew out his elbow at Greenville throwing a slider (I think)

It started with hang’em Chaim and got huge with Bailey

You still need to throw fastballs here and there to keep them honest (see: Bello 2024). If you develop pitchers that are unable to throw fastballs, they will struggle in MLB IMO.

The Sox best development arm right now is Dobbins. He throws is 4 seamer (not a cutter, not a splitter) 40% of the time!

Tolle is the Sox most exciting starting prospect in the lower levels, because of his fastball shape!

Our pitchers are using the fastball to set up the breaking stuff!!
Oddly enough, the two veterans, buehler and giolita, are struggling the most because their secondary stuff is hit or mostly miss!!?

Monegro - TJS

Mullins

Paez

Sandlin

Three are protected and two are traded (maybe Monegro is left unprotected due to the TJS?). If any of the others are selected, it's not a big concern to me at this point.
