I'm trying to prep the site for our advertisers and that means searching for trolls and wildly inappropriate discussions.

I'm amazed this forum still exists given the depth of depravity you've faced with trolling over the years. Are these Yankees fans? Or just awful people with no lives? I've never seen anything THIS bad.

The Yankees fans that we have had to ban tend to create accounts with baseball related names and then behave for a few weeks before being annoying enough to ban. We have our share of well behaved Yankees fans, so I'm not going to paint them in a broad brush. They just had poor parenting!

The other trolls most likely suffer from some form of mental illness. This has been a really small board and I don't know what would get someone to obsess about us for over a decade. It doesn't make sense to me.

I long for the days when A700 would proclaim every new account was Dutchy/Imperial and was there specifically to troll him whether it was true or not (usually untrue). This was really great in 2016 after the BDC board died and we got an influx of new posters.

There have been some pretty bad ones in the past--and I only go back 8 years--but in the past year or two I've seen very few.  There are several I consider to be negative or unduly pessimistic, but that's not the same.

If that's because of mvp 78, good for him.

The worst troll we have now is MADSTORK, but compared to some I've seen here and at the old BDC site, he's pretty tame (qand lame.)

I don't think many posters have been banned in the last couple years. All I can think of is Swihart's Ghost, but I'm probably forgetting some.

There is someone or possibly a small group of horrendous trolls that we’ve been dealing with for years. I’ve IP banned him/them dozens of times at this point. Once they’re banned they’ll use a proxy to make a new account and wait to be approved, and repeat the process. Luckily sometimes they’ll use easy to identify names but they were somehow still getting approved occasionally. I think one of the names literally had “penis” in the name…..

this guy will post porn, racial slurs, disturbing pictures and DM people. He has no limits to what he’ll post.

He went away for awhile because YOTN went ghost, Yeszir wasn’t active often and I was never given the power to approve/deny new accounts. Now that the site is changing hosts and approving new members more frequently, this jack ass is going to potentially be a major issue. He has absolutely no life and is a loser

Spankie trolls that come into the forum are only jealous of the success the Sox have enjoyed this century. I teach high school in Jersey (Behindenemylines) and I have students that were not alive the last time the Yanks won the World Series. Since they weren't even born before the last championship they have no argument of which franchise has enjoyed more success, since I don't allow then to include any championships before they were born in their argument.

I've been a Red Sox fan since 1960 when I got to watch Ted Williams play in his last season.  It's interesting that you talk about a Troll problem because I find this site has some of the most obnoxious members that are Red Sox fans and there are a few that are moderators on the site.   I'm not sure which is worse being harassed by a Yankee troll or an inexperienced Red Sox fan participating in group think.

There is a group think pushed on this site and lots of immature young people who have built relationships with the Alpha writers on this site and they harass anyone with a different point of view than the group think point of view.  In the short time I've been on I have one guy insulting me with every write-up he makes, I have many others that simply force Mayer and Anthony down my throat, there are Cora lovers who could care less about his cheating or crap managerial performance.  There are very vocal people who don't know enough about math to understand that metrics are simply estimates not facts (that's a big one on this site in particular), there are people who simply flip the new people crap as a rite of passage.   Overall, a very unfriendly site with a limited number of baseball people but the ones that reside here are worth staying for.  By far the best feature on the site is the "ignored users" feature.  Thank you for that it makes things tolerable to the people who don't believe the group think concepts.

If you want to upgrade the site, tone down the inexperienced baseball fans who are abusive in their comments and completely ignorant of the ins and outs of baseball at all levels starting at high school going up all the way to the MLB level.  They are entitled to their opinions about baseball but should be limited in their insults to new people, heck all people, who don't agree with them.  If this is intended to be a club with the alpha writers dominating what opinions will be allowed, you should put that in your advertisements.  Lots of young fans seem to enjoy their 15 minutes of fame on this site by genuflecting to the Alpha writers and insulting all those people not in the inner circle.

Experienced fans who have actually been part of the game for decades can find a place here once they learn that there is a "ignored user" feature that is critical to limiting the ignorant feedback of the inexperienced fans and can focus on the solid discussions with the experienced fanbase that don't treat this site like twitter.

Thank you for that feedback.  I currently have eight members who are on my ignore lists due to abusive comments.  I will keep your comments in mind as one of them seeks out my comments to slam them and I'd prefer he simply avoid commenting if he disagrees   Again, I appreciate the olive branch.
