The Brewers were my first baseball team. I grew up living 2 blocks from the old County Stadium. Those were the days when parents just cut their kids loose to roam the area, at will. I remember going to some games, by myself at 12 years old. The bleacher tickets were a dollar.

I quickly became a huge fan of the game and Tommy Harper. Shortly after we moved to Maine, Harper was traded to the Sox, and I switched team loyalty to the Red Sox in 1972.

We face a lefty today: Koenig, and we send Pivetta to the hill. The Brewers are a good team, even without Burnes, and we have our work cut out for us.

One game at a time!

Get us a win, Moon. Pivetta will get 6+ innings, giving up one solo HR. O'Neill will hit today as will Grissom.

Back in the mid '50's when I started taking an interest in baseball, I had two favorite teams; the SOX and the Milwaukee Braves. I was always impressed with Aaron, but, for some reason, my favorite player on that Braves' team was Johnny Logan, the SS.

When the SOX signed YAZ, I became a dedicated SOX fan and forgot about the Braves.

Great story, moonslav. I would never have figured your for a Milwaukee guy. Then Maine and now Houston. That's three key sectors of this country--and you still go back to Maine every summer.

Has anyone been watching closely enough to figure out what other teams have apparently figured out about O'Neill? Is there a pitch/location that he simply cannot hit?

When a moron, and this country is loaded with them, reaches into the field of play and interferes with the baseball, before he's tossed from the park he should also be pepper sprayed.

Good. Fan tossed for taking away a double, which has now been restored. Tough for the Sox, but Pivetta looks very hittable despite the 2 K's in the 1st inning.

Yes, anything over the plate about thigh high

Agree on all but the pepper spray.

Pivetta is the one Boston pitcher living off the fastball. Overall he uses it about 46% and in St. Louis he went about 64% FB. Dodged a bullet in the 2nd, although the phat phuque fan had an early exit. How do you explain that to friends/family.

2 straight games the Brewers have started with a reliever. 2 outs last night, 4 tonight--then in comes the starter.

Abreu is short and dumpy and exactly what you don't want covering RF at the Fens, but he has been terrific.

So mental telepathy works. Who knew? I keep saying, "use the curve, use the curve," and Pivetta finally does.

2 out, often 2 strike pitching. Milwaukee swinging the bat, not looking for walks. Game is about done at 5-0

Modern baseball for ya, folks. Not only a damn opener two games in a row, but the same damn guy!

It’s just like using a reliever two days in a row…

They're swinging because they love what Pivetta is serving up: 3 doubles, 4 singles, and 2 walks. They also like that he only has 2 pitches, a curve and a fastball.

Brewers don't seem to be chasers, so Pivetta's curve does not entice them.

Smart baseball, modern or not. Worked like a charm both days.
