I used to feel the same way until I got Apple TV. Now I'm excited because it's a game I can actually watch. Didn't just get it for baseball though.

I, also, have Apple+, but this exclusivity sucks for the fans who have NESN. i've noticed when PRIME televises a game, it's not exclusive. IOW, those with NESN can still receive the game.

How are the Sox supposed to win a game against a team ( Brewers) that already has 28 wins ? There is no chance of Splendid extending this streak, unless the hitters hit a ton, they steal several bases and Crawford throws a no hit-shutout. Good luck guys !

What is everyone's take on the interference call in bottom 9 of Orioles/White Sox ? I hold Benintendi accountable for popping up with 2 on in the 9th. He is having a poor year, at -22.0 WAR already.

- 22?

That's not just below a replacement player, it would be like the White Sox team bus stopping at a construction site and throwing uniforms at a whole crew: sheetrocker, taper, electrician, plumber, journeyman, apprentice, laborer, the poor guy installing fiberglass insulation, and the underrated kid holding a broom (you can hear OB now: "Sweeper! Sweeper!")

Sorry, that was a bad mistype, thinking of Andrew B., Franchy Cordero came to mind so I typed -22., instead of AB's 2.0

I'm with the ump. MLB says there is discretion on that play, but they didn't cite the rule-book page (or I didn't see it). You interfere with a fielder and you're out. Why should it be otherwise? Do we really want umpires huddling and deciding, well, I don't think it REALLY affected the play, whaddayou think, Fred? or 'Dunno, I think that throw mighta got him, mebbe not. Fred?'

I can see why they are citing the rules as written, which doers not mention discretion as a factor. On the other hand it is a game determining call with odd circumstances. The guy that was interfered with caught the ball fairly easily which itself was unnecessary because the infield fly rule had been invoked so Benintendi was an auto out, the runner on second became the third out for allegedly interfering with the player who caught the ball. The contact between the players was minimal and did not alter the outcome of the play. From the replays, it does appear that the "interference" was called early in the pop up , so it was not an afterthought.

Umpire may have been totally correct in his call on the field per the rules but maybe the rule should address whether the interference affects the play, leaving room for some discretion or at least a replay review.

I agree with all that. But again, do we really want umpires huddling discussing things like this? "You know, Fred, I'm pretty sure the ball was foul, but damn he got good wood on it and deserves a hit; whaddya say?" or "Come on, Fred, the throw clearly beat the runner; so what if he missed the tag?" And how is replay going to determine whether the interference affected the play? The worst use of replay is to get involved with pure 'judgment' calls like this.

The rules do explicitly state even on infield flies the runner can be called for interference, as the fielder has the right of way on a batted ball.

Controversial ending, but Junior Valentine (for once) might have made the right call. Andrew Vaughn needs to stay awake on the bases….

Fred is the worst umpire. You can’t get through to that guy…

I believe 2 games over .500 is the SOX Peter Principle*.

*2 games over is their level of incompetence, hindering further advancement.

But then, I've never seen a call where Fred was wrong

Trading the best everyday player on the team is not a good idea. This is directed at those who think trading Duran is a good idea.

Not counting Houck, he'd be the last player on the SOX I would trade.

O'Neill wins a Golden Sombrero. With his approach at the plate I see more sombreros in his future.

Having big muscles and continually striking out is similar to having a beautiful turntable and no records.
