Gonzalez(SS)

Refsnyder(DH)

O'Neill

Devers

Wong

Cooper

Grissom

Duran

Rafaela

Gore(LH) vs Bello

Hopefully, the SOX and BRUINS can both win today and not make this a repeat of Friday.

Of the two I believe the SOX have a slightly better chance at victory today than the overmatched BRUINS.

Let's get a streak going here today. As pitcher's say, get me 2; as Duran says, I'm going for 2 , as Ernie Banks said, Let's play 2.

Brayan Bello back in the Park, probably a 5 inning special.

That was a nice throw and play at 2B.

I just heard the Sox have only allowed 4 UER in the last 19 games. I hope this can continue.

Before that, I think it was 26 UER in 20 games.

Would I be in the wrong if I referred to Youk as Capt. Obvious? Would we have known that was a bad throw to 2nd if Youk hadn't told us?

I don't know because sometimes Youk is ok but you know when he's not you realize he's not ok like when he says something good you know it might be good but don't forget different people might think different things and in the end what's obvious well it's obvious and he's not the captain that was Tek you remember he got into it with Arod that was the year we won the pennant well not the pennant but the WS which you know means that you won the pennant as well but when a ball is in the dirt it's not usually a strike and not all hitters are looking for the same pitch in every situation but the pitcher can vary speed and sometimes location but you know if a major league hitter is .... So referring to Youk as Capt Obvious is a yes.

Nice play. As the defense gets better, the offense gets worse. Interesting.

That seems to be the way, right?

The one pretty steady thing through the quarter mile mark has been the pitching.

(Knock on wood.)

Nice win of the game and series against an opponent with many of the same issues as the Sox through almost 25% of the schedule.

Now it goes to 4 with the Rays, normally a challenge, but their results to date are a game +1/2 worse so far. Would be nice to take the series 3-1.

Bello back in rotation is more encouraging than Pivetta was. Jansen and Martin , as Moon notes, are looking better too. Duran and O'Neill coming off the high of April's hitting/running and solo HR binge.

Two much-needed, excellent wins which, however, do not--as everyone has already said--assuage our angst about the hitting. Those three runs depended on the dropped fly in CF and Rafaela's miracle double which actually was catchable. It was the Nats who had the 2 run dinger.

Sox are now 2 games over .500 which, all things considered, is semi-miraculous and primarily due to the pitching.

The fans, however, are not impressed and are finally voting with their absent fannies. So far--and it is definitely early enough for cold weather to be a factor--the Sox attendance is the lowest in at least 25 years. It does not help that the sightlines for the fans are among the worst in MLB. Fenway is antiquated.

But my guess is that two biggest factors are the absence of star power (except for Devers, these guys are no-names) and, not quite as important, marginal won-loss record for the 3d season in a row.

While the Rays did win 5 in a row, not long ago, nobody can say we are playing a red hot team.

They have lost 3 of their last 4.

This is a Red Sox baseball site, but for anyone who watched the Bruins putrid 3rd period, you saw total offensive ineptitude, 8 minutes in the PBox , a 50-50 call on interference in the midst of a missed cross check penalty next to the goal.

Bruins are boiled like the Maine cockroaches of the sea that they are.

Yes the Bruins are about to be flushed down the shitter after blowing a 2-0 lead last night. BIG game for the C’s tonight either going up 3-1, or going to 2-2. Lastly the Red Sox have won 2 in a row, but MEH.

It was nice to see the Nats play some 2024 Red Sox baseball and make some real dumb plays.

As Cora said it was an ugly game yesterday, and he was glad when it was over.🤫
