A's run out Joe Patrick Boyle, one fine Irishman, who at 6'-7" will be throwing downhill at our guys. Boyle , 24, went 2-0 over 3 games for the 2023 A's with a 1.69 ERA ( meaningless) and a.081 WHIP over 16 innings ( meaningful) .

 

What did we learn in Seattle ? Pitching looks focused both starting and in relief. #26 on the roster actually got in an inning without getting scored on. Hitting is O'Neill , Devers skipped 50% of the games , Casa and Duran not yet helping .

Wilyer Abreu is 1 for 7 with 4 K's.

Great win today, exactly what most of us weren't expecting. Whitlock went 5 when it looked like he'd be lucky to go 3--and gave up just the 1 run.

 

Sox were competitive in all 4 games @ Seattle, largely because of the rotation. Credit to the pitchers of course, but also the manager, pitching coach, and both catchers.

 

Actually, I'm impressed with the whole team--defense, baserunning, hitting (sort of), bullpen.

22:3 in ST'ing (21.2 IP)

 

Total: 30 Ks in 26.2 IP with only 3 BBs in almost 3 full games of innings.

Jarren Duran, Red Sox outfielder, announced earlier this morning that he has decided to join the pop band DURAN DURAN and will retire from baseball effective immediately.

Btw, the band will now be called DURAN DURAN DURAN.

Speaking for the Red Sox, Sam Kennedy stated "Duran's speed will be missed. We do wish him luck with his new endeavor."

McGuire has 3 starts. Wong has 2. For the 5th game of the year, it’s a 50/50 split.

I think Wong is still the best all around, but I also think McGuire is good enough to rotate with Wong so both will be rested. I'm guessing Wright won't start against lefty pitchers.

When a team gets aa chance to blow out a lesser opponent, go ahead and do so. Bases loaded one out and don't score . Boyle will have a huge pitch count for 3 after this upcoming AB by the Grays
