Betts also leads all of MLB with 1.6 fWAR, but his lead isn’t as commanding as it was a week ago. Bobby Witt Jr has 1.4 fWAR, and 4 other hitters have 1.0 fWAR or more, including Spencer Steer and Anthony Volpe

The extra games helps, too, as WAR is helped by more games being played.

He's still the best. (Acuna is on his heals. Soto might be, too.

MLBTR's top FAs this winter:

1. Soto (I doubt we make this kind of splash signing, even if we traded Duran.)

2. Burnes (Just what we need.)

3. Bregman (Has declined, and would force Devers to share 1B/DH w Casas.)

4. Alonso (Casas to DH?)

5. Snell (SP'er is a need)

6. Fried (another SP'er- will be 31, next year.)

7. Bellinger (Nope.)

8. Willy Adames (SS, move Story to 2B or DH?)

9. Kim (2B/SS, hmmmm?)

10. Montgomery (One year older.)

Others: Buehler, Chapman, Flaherty, Goldschmidt, THern, Montas, O'Neill, Severino, Torres, Verlander, C Walker, Scherzer

And back on that list is Matt Chapman. He's off to an awful start with the bat, but already has 4 DRS (tied for 4th in MLB). But unlike every name on that list except Bellinger and Snell, Chapman is ineligible for a Qualifying Offer.

He would create a logjam at 1B/DH with Casas, Devers and Yoshida. But that can be worked out in a couple different ways...

Betts is making the move to shortstop look like cake. Pretty incredible, really.

It's still a stupid idea for LA, who has other options but for some reason likes Teoscar Hernandez in RF and former SS Chris Taylor in LF. Of course, for their best defense, they could simply plug Miguel Rojas back in at SS, put Betts back in RF, and move Teoscar to the other corner.

But apparently they like exposing Betts' knees oncoming runners. And you gotta get Chris Taylor's .184 OPS in that lineup.

Machado plays in that division. It's not knee, it's him.

At least they called up Andy Pages today to get Taylor out of that lineup.

But I still think Roberts is being stupid for playing Betts out of position...

On a Rockies chartered flight:

United Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating how a passenger gained access to the cockpit of a 757 at cruise altitude in violation of the company’s policy and FAA regulations.

@CespedesBBQ

Did not have "Rockies hitting coach Hensley Meulens getting a pilot investigated by the FAA" on my 2024 MLB Bingo Card

Offense is down significantly so far this year.

April/24 MLB OPS .696

April/23 MLB OPS .726

I blame Dalbec…

We shoulda signed all the hurt guys!

I don't think many people really wanted Snell. ERod, yes. Gray has been great through his first 3 starts.

We shoulda signed every one of 'em.

Too late now. The Sox look for unsigned hurt guys who they can pay to rehab and not play for a year -- or forever if your name is Mondesi.

No, my point was we should have signed every pitcher who got hurt after signing.

Catch 22.

We had to wait until they signed to see who got hurt…

The White Sox are on pace to go 21-141.

Not looking good long term

MLB Pipeline ranks their system, as 20th with only 2 top 100 prospects. And can they get more, considering how they overvalue their MLB talent?

There’s absolutely no shortage of legendary home runs in baseball history, whether we’re talking about Babe Ruth’s “called shot” in 1932, Bobby Thomson’s “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” in 1951, Carlton Fisk’s foul-pole prayer in 1975 or thousands of others along the way. Homers make up something like 3% of

One fact I never knew. In 1968, Bob Gibson started 34 games and had 28 complete games.

He was NEVER taken off the mound, all season! (He was PH for 6 times.)

@PatrickDLyons

For the first time since 1910 and only the second time in the history of the baseball, the Colorado Rockies have trailed in all 28 games to start a season.
