And here's a quote from a different piece from OTM. These guys are on it.

Breslow’s shift from focusing on controllable starting pitching (and potentially moving prospects to do so) to now waiting for the next wave of prospects (Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel) was abrupt.

Good piece from Over the Monster pointing out the flaws in the latest messaging from Werner and Breslow:

There’s a lot to unpack here, and I’m tempted to start with the ludicrous claim that creating a talent pipeline of internally developed players is the “fastest path to a World Series team.” It plainly is not. It’s the cheapest path to building a winner — and if your owner insists on resetting the luxury tax at regular intervals, then it’s also probably the best way to achieve sustained success — but it is in no uncertain terms the fastest path.

Seems like this is a directive from somewhere above Crag. We will just not get a straight answer as to why.

Crag's already getting the shaft, I fear.

Red Sox Winter Weekend is finally here, and I’m sure Alex, Sam, Tom, and Bres will tell you everything you want to hear. I wonder if Tom will lead the crowd in the Let’s Go Red Sox chant.

Will security be tighter than last year?

It seems clear that they started the offseason with one plan and shifted to another at some point. Now, Crag is doing interviews attempting to explain the shift.

My guess is Henry needs Crag out there justifying to the masses why the Sox aren't spending money, but not for the reasons that Henry doesn't want to.

And some people are saying "well, they should have just kept Bloom" but I disagree. Bloom seemed a little out of his element. Find a guy that can build the farm AND work on the MLB team with limited resources. s***, I'd rather they just not sign a Corey Kluber and go with younger pitchers.

Without a town hall and less buzz, won't there be fewer fans in attendance? Easier to point out troublemakers like moon.

But the brass outside of Henry is going to be there, right?

I don't disagree, but if they don't make any more upgrades this offseason, how does that make Breslow look? I'd call it a pretty freakin' underwhelming first offseason. Some good moves, perhaps, but the starting pitching still looks shaky to say the least...if Giolito bombs it could be a total disaster.

Not to answer questions from the fans, but TC will probably ask a couple of soft ones.

Hoping that he goes Totally Crazy.

Pap is there too with TC, so who knows what he’ll say.

He'll talk about how great Cora is, how bad the Dodgers are for spending so much money and how honored he is to be in the Sox HOF. Then he'll just goof off for a while.

Maybe try to choke out a broadcaster? idk

He's certainly getting a taste of shifting messaging.

It sure seems like they shammed him, too.

I'm still not so sure Brez or Bloom didn't sign on for exactly what we've seen them experience. These guys are too smart to be duped; they knew what they were agreeing to when they took the job -- for which they are well-compensated. I don't feel sorry for anyone in that front office.

Smart yes, but also very inexperienced to deal with someone like JH.

Henry needs someone he can push around apparently.

That's hard, considering my 4-year-old has more muscle mass than Henry.

And in 10 years, they’ll both be dating women in the same age range…

FWIW Peter Gammons is putting out a bit of a conspiracy theory about FSG having some recent losses that are impacting the Sox.

It's great to be part of a conglomerate!
