Oh, they may try to bring up Uwasawa, but it would be a hold your nose option unless the org can straighten out what was going wrong in ST.

He could be a Barraclough/Dermody/Lamet one appearance guy.

Uwasawa got roughed up by the Braves for 7ER in 2 IP. If you ignore that one outing and just look at the rest of his spring, his ERA drops from a pathetic 13.03 to a less pathetic but still pathetic 8.22. I know it’s a small sample size, but so far he’s just flat out hittable. Maybe he can channel his Inner Hideki Okajima?

The only likable thing about him is he pitched for the Nippon Ham Fighters. Good for two reasons. First, NPB does seem like the more competitive Japanese League. And second, if you do have a favorite Japanese team, it damn well better be the Nippon Ham Fighters. Everyone else is much less ham-tastic…

Ham and scalloped potatoes is one of my favorite meals. I'd definitely fight for that.

That would be an improvement over the last two seasons.

Yes and the team wouldn't be a slog to watch either.

It's close, but I'm going with 79 wins this year.

I tried to start a poll thread on predicting the Sox win total, but I could not get the poll function to work.

Pessimistic bastard. I'm going with 80.

I’m at 82 right now.

But if this team can get 140+ starts and 700+ innings from the opening day rotation, I’m prepared to go as high as 87+ wins and a postseason berth…

1. Absolutely. It’s a delicious feast laden with nostalgia.

2. Am I the only moron who thought the team moniker was “Ham Fighter” and their logo was or should have been a hitter standing at the plate wielding a large ham by the bone at the base as if it was a bat?

There are people in Japan who think that Uwasawa is better than Yamamoto.

The amount of CTE that Japanese wrestlers have is probably off the charts due to Puroresu's strong style and King's Road.

Better at what?

I’m sure Uwasawa is better at lots of things. Better cook, for example. Could be. Better chess player maybe. Better at cosplay, perhaps?

The only activity I’m certain of is that Yamamoto is better at pitching…

I hope they're right, but what that actually points out to me is that Japan also has a serious drug problem.

I have no proof of that , but it's a big country. Pretty sure there are a few who think so. It's good that we both made it through another winter anyway.

They did not specify the activity.

I remember when the Astros were the laughing stock of MLB, then they got very good and they've been very good for a long time.

Now it's the O's turn. They're gonna be very good for a long time.

Unless their owner goes all John Henry and they don’t extend Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson and instead trade both away for some futuristic version of Jeter Downs…

I wish they had. I’m just left guessing.

Archery? Interior design? Snowboarding? Card tricks?

I’m sure it’s something…

The only weakness I spot on the O's is their color guy, Jim Palmer, who is still an irritating A-hole and probably always will be.

But at least he stopped doing broadcasts in his underwear…

I tried to start a new thread with a poll on how many wins the Sox would get, but the site did not allow the Poll part of the post to work.

I thought I was pretty clear.
